I've got a SportBrain in a drawer around here somewhere. It's a pedometer built around an online service. Just about everyone in my office had one in 2000. Then SportBrain went belly-up and disappeared. They didn't think through the whole "revenue" thing, I guess. They're back online as a paid service, but I don't know of any one who uses it.

The cool thing about SportBrain was that it not only kept track of how many steps you took, but also when you took them and at what pace. The graph showed periods of activity and inactivity (e.g. 3.5 mph for 45 minutes, and then 4 hours sitting at a desk) rather than a simple daily step count. Telemetry is fun.
