Dr Ansel and Jenny pulled Annelise up and stood protectively around her as the zombies came closer.
"Here, give it to me. Quick!" Jenny gestured.
As she handed Jenny the filthy amulet and tried to shake her hands clean, Annelise asked, "What's the plan?"
"Well, the first plan is to get the talisman for myself," Jenny responded, rolling her eyes. "Which you have made WAY too easy. But it's MINE now. MINE!"
"Jenny, this is not the time for greed. We need to stop the zombies," Dr Ansel tried to reason with her.
"Don't you realize this isn't about the money? I've been hunting for this talisman as long as you have. I killed the pilot for it, and it still slipped through my grasp. I poisoned the sailors, and still, the talisman eluded me."
The zombies slowly shuffled forward as she continued her tale. "I've been one step behind, all this time. But I knew, when I called you as 'Professor Kildare', that you were now in possession of the amulet and that you would be my next victim. The talisman is MINE and with it, I will control the zombies and RULE THE WORLD!"
Jenny seemed to have grown several feet during the course of this exposition as Annelise and Dr Ansel cowered. Annelise was terrified. The zombies continued to shamble closer, inches at a time, in their slow zombie pace.
"The talisman is useless to you without the incantation," Dr Ansel defiantly raised his chin to Jenny. "You'll only be able to control them if you say it."
"Then you'll just have to tell it to me," Jenny threatened, pulling out a knife and pointing it at the doctor's neck. He gulped.
"Don't do it, Daddy! Who knows what she'll do once she can control them?!" Annelise pleaded.
"It's for the best, darling," he responded. "I won't let her hurt you." He turned to Jenny. "The incantation is: Rentsoc nivek. Nocab... nivek."
Annelise turned her face to her father, who looked pained at having revealed this secret.
Jenny raised the talisman, still dripping with poop, and shouted, "Rentsoc nivek. Nocab... nivek!"
Rather than stopping in their tracks and awaiting her command, the zombies suddenly transformed into sparkly emo vampires and stood around being sparkly and emo, but also glaring at the humans. Jenny dropped the talisman in surprise and Dr Ansel caught it, loudly shouting "YHTRACCM WERDNA!" as he landed on the ground.
Annelise grabbed the knife from Jenny and gave a nervous glance to the vampires, who were now idly picking daisies.
Dr Ansel explained, "That was the real incantation. They won't hurt us now."
"Dad, you have to destroy them!" Annelise pleaded, gesturing at Jenny with her knife. "What if someone else comes along later and wants to lead a zombie army? We need to return these people to their graves!"
"Yes, yes, you're right," he agreed absentmindedly. "But..."
"No dad, you can't act out your fan fiction in real life first. That's gross. Just do it!"
He looked dismayed but agreed. "Alright, the incantation of death. Kcasuc nhoj." The vampires disappeared.
"And the talisman, Dad?"
Dr Ansel tossed the talisman back into the hole in the top of the septic tank, and Jenny hopped up and ran after it, only to see it sink into the muck before her eyes. She jumped in after it and Dr Ansel and Annelise walked away quickly, before she realized that there was no way out.
