You Are the Music, Parte the Firste

I am running late for Tiff's latest CD Swap, but I thought I would post the beginnings here, with a question for all of you! The theme of this swap was:

Have you ever watched a movie or a TV show and though, "wow, this music is really great!" Or, more commonly, "this music is so distracting! Why are they playing Nickelback, I think my ears are bleeding! I could’ve totally done a better job."

Well here’s your chance. And you even get to pick the movie.

The way many of us interpreted this was "Put a whole bunch of songs together, then write a story about them." My story is still in my head and not down on paper computer yet, but I thought I would share my tracklist with you. I may have to take out a few songs to fit the story (not sure yet because I haven't written it yet) but I don't think I'll add anything. Mp3s will be... somewhere... when I put the story up. I'll let you know when I post the story.

  1. Two Lovers (Mint Royale Remix) - The Twang (link is to the original, not the remix)
  2. Colours - Donovan
  3. Shirin - Jens Lekman
  4. A Summer Song - Chad & Jeremy
  5. Halfway up the Hindu Kush - Katie Melua
  6. Goodbye Mr A - The Hoosiers
  7. The Rainbow Connection - Sarah McLachlan
  8. The Happening - The Supremes
  9. Fluorescent Adolescent - Arctic Monkeys
  10. Over And Over (ft.Tim McGraw) - Nelly
  11. Stronger - 30 Seconds to Mars
  12. Love Today - Mika
  13. This is not a pipe - Bob Nanna
  14. Grace Kelly - Mika
  15. Are You Out There? - Dar Williams
  16. Shambala - Three Dog Night
  17. There Is A Mountain - Donovan
  18. What Is Life - George Harrison

I'd be interested to know if you built your own story in your head based on these songs, and how different it is from mine. Probably quite different!

Nice tracklist!!!

I definitely wrote a "movie" based on my own life, so the story was already there. And the music? That was already there too. Heh. Despite this, it was hard as hell to write. Seriously.

Love it! I've been building a soundtrack of my life for eons now. Even have a soundtrack to be played at my funeral. I find this to be a highly therapeutic activity!

Just for the record, my soundtrack is not going to be the soundtrack to my life. Just a made-up story!

I heard one song (I'll Take Care of You) and out of that sprung my whole story. And it's totally made up.

You didn't call Phil a damned rodent. I think you broke your streak.

Three Dog Night...isn't that Russel Crowe's band? If so, love it. Haha.
