The Curse of the Srambino

I went to a hockey game last night because a friend had an extra ticket. The University I Work At was playing against Western Michigan, my friend's alma mater, although she's lived in Srahtown and had various connections to The University I Work at for years. So she had loyalty to both teams and I had loyalty to none at all, because although I work there, TUIWA has been battling the University of Michigan for the top of the league (and the top of the college hockey rankings altogether) all season.

Once the game started, though, I started hoping for Western would win, despite the TUIWA sweatshirt I was wearing. They are from Michigan, they are last in the league (3-20-2), and I like underdogs. Not to mention that they outplayed TUIWA in the first period. Out loud I would cheer when either team did something good, but inside I was shouting "COME ON, WESTERN, MOVE YER BLOOMIN' ARSE!" I had to keep this inside because a) I didn't want to get beaten up, and b) I am cursed.

I can't think of a single example of a time I have attended a sporting event in Srahtown and the team I cheered for has won. It's not just that TUIWA wins whenever I go to a game, because I even cheered for them once and they lost. I should not be able to attend athletic events. I think I'm 0-5 now overall.

Unfortunately despite my outward appearance of impartiality, the Gods of Srahtown could apparently hear my internal cheering, because TUIWA won the game in the end. Foiled again!

You also should cheer against the UYWA so that UM can get further into first!

Oh man, I was already loving you for your My Fair Lady reference, but then I read a couple posts down and there you went quoting Old Gregg! Well played indeed.
