Boba-fed

I have discovered the joys of Bowling Green, Ohio! On my way home this weekend I set off with half a tank of gas just so that I would have an excuse to stop in Bowling Green. A little birdie named BobaFind had told me that there was bubble tea to be found there. I had planned to take my aunt out for bubble tea while she was in Ann Arbor, but I forgot all about it until after she'd returned home. No bubble tea for Aunt Pat and no Ann Arbor bubble tea for me, which only made me want it more.

So I stopped in Bowling Green, found some reasonably-priced gas ($2.83 - not that there is anything reasonable about that, really, but it's all relative) and set off in search of Smoovies, armed only with the memory that it was on Washington Street, which was off Main Street somewhere. Luckily I found it without too much driving up and down Main Street. And it was lovely! It was an almond milk tea thing - but it was frozen, which they don't usually do for the almond flavor at Bubble Island. Very different and grood! I mean good. Great and good. I'll never buy gas in Ann Arbor again!

Congratulations on discovering one of my fave I-75 pit/wake-up stops. Other highlights: the corner grill place on the main drag, the old building with cow heads on it, the little trash-pile hill out in the campus athletic fields that people run up and down like ants because it's the only hill for miles around, the modern architecture on campus that only rarely is faceless and harsh ... and, if you're really lucky, the chance to see a thunderstorm rolling into town across all those amber waves of corn.

I'm so sorry I missed the bubble tea. I thought about it too after I got home. I don't think it exists here in the south. :(

Nay! There's one at the Lynnhaven Mall in Virginia Beach!
