My mother is from MI and she says warsh and miuck for milk and it's Lake Urine not Huron.... didn't you know?! It drives me crazy.

Umm, I'm from Indiana, and I *never* say "warsh". Ever. I'm a language snob.

Isn't that an Indiana thing? Like eating the L's in "towel" and "cold"? Oh well. Someone does it somewhere.

I think it's *southern* Indiana, and (sadly) Illinois- they also say melk instead of milk, and one guy I know says breftist instead of breakfast!

Personally, I think it is more of uneducated person's thing rather than where you are from (another language snob here).

I have a Michigan friend who says "melk" and denies that she does so! You know who you are!
