S. Diddy

Here is the weather report from last night. Yeah, I'm gonna die.

Frank is predicting snow today. I'm not ready! I'm not ready for any of this weather. I don't have enough sweaters. I don't have enough warm socks. I don't have a coat.

I do have a coat, actually, but it's The Puffy Coat. The Puffy Coat serves, each year, as an impetus to go out and buy a winter coat. It is horribly large and blue and makes me look like Violet Beauregarde with an eensy-weensy head when I wear it. It isn't even as warm as it really should be, given all that puff.

And yet I've had it for years and years because I can't be arsed to go out and get something better. Or because, like this year, winter sneaks up on me when I'm not paying attention and I have to settle for it... and once I've been seen in the Puffy Coat, I figure I'm fashionally-ruined anyway and might as well save the money.

I'm resisting as long as possible and wearing layer after layer of sweaters and sweatshirts. About the time I catch pneumonia, I'll probably give in.

May I request a picture of you in The Puffy Coat as your next "About Srah" photo?

Holy cow - it's cold over there. I'm still walking around in shirt-sleeves (and trousers of course, otherwise I'd get arrested).

We have approximately the same forcast as you, Srah. Except no below-freezing temps yet. However, they did predict snow today in the higher elevations.

It doesn't matter though, because I'm in wicked good spirits. (That's wicked said as an English person, not as a redneck.)

Evil Richard! Evil Richard! Now I'm going to have that stupid song in my head all day, but I don't know the words!!!!

Alas, the digital camera has been returned to its rightful owner and is currently touring around Germany. I'll have to see if I have some from the past that I can scan.

I'm freezing my bum off and it's 60. (But the wind is blowing, which obviously doesn't make a difference because, according to weather.com it "Feels Like 60F." I think I'm just a wuss. Time to move to Phoenix.)

Is it Christmas yet?

I don't know what Jez sounds like, but I like to imagine him saying "holy cow".

Just go buy a coat.

It blizzarded on my walk into class/work this morning. Seriously blizzarded.

gravatar srah - October 2, 2003 - 12:30 PM -

I hate shopping. I'll never find anything that fits.

gravatar CommanderFalafel - October 2, 2003 - 12:32 PM -

Give me due warning--I can bring my camera out. I doubt there's any way of getting out of this now!

gravatar srah - October 2, 2003 - 12:36 PM -

How much should one expect to pay for a coat? I wouldn't know, having never bought one myself. Is $188 a lot? It's so hard to find petite stuff.

gravatar srah - October 2, 2003 - 12:37 PM -

Darn it. Hmmmm, ummmm, it seems I accidentally set The Puffy Coat on fire. So sad. No pictures.

gravatar CommanderFalafel - October 2, 2003 - 12:41 PM -

I wouldn't know... all my coats came to me via thrift stores. I haven't owned a new coat since I was little. I can't help it... U-M has all my coat money.

gravatar katie - October 2, 2003 - 1:48 PM -

We should go shopping and I will find you a coat. It will be fun to dress you - kind of like playing with a little doll.

Sorta. Nevermind.

Do they say 'holy cow' in Britain, or was Jez adopting an American phrase?

gravatar srah - October 2, 2003 - 1:56 PM -

I was going to beg you and Cheryl and Alfie to come to Ann Arbor and take me coat-shopping. C'mon!

gravatar Jez - October 2, 2003 - 2:48 PM -

I was just commenting in American-ese, to try and blend in naturally with the rest of your commenters. Looks like I failed. I shall revert back to the Queen's English henceforth, what.

gravatar srah - October 2, 2003 - 3:03 PM -

Ah still want to hear you say it, luv.

Why am I Scottish???

gravatar katie - October 2, 2003 - 3:24 PM -

Is it just me or has everyone in the blogging world gone positively mad today?

I would be happy to come to Ann Arbor and take you shopping. Please send me a plane ticket and I'll be right over.

gravatar Justin - October 2, 2003 - 4:32 PM -

Katie, are you implying that my recent zombie-themed rants mean that I'm insane?

gravatar Jez - October 2, 2003 - 4:59 PM -

"Why am I Scottish???"

It must be the "Mc" in your name.

Mad Srah McMad, winner of the all-Scotland Miss Mad competition.

gravatar katie - October 2, 2003 - 7:09 PM -

Justin, it isn't you specifically... It just seems like everyone is a lunatic today...including me.

gravatar alfie - October 2, 2003 - 7:10 PM -

Oooh. Is this the beginning of another Blackadder quote war? I hope so.

Sarah, personally, I thought you sounded southern.
