Summer is held at the wrong time of year. In Srahtown in the summer, there is suddenly an abundance of parking available. You can arrive late and still get a good spot. You can leave during the day, come back and park in the same spot... or a better one! It is glorious! Vive l'été! This is not the case the rest of the year. The rest of the year, there are fierce battles over parking spaces, with shivs and chains and tridents and suchlike. The most exciting thing that happened to me over break was when I lost my hat. It was a red hat. It was windy when I lost my hat. My hat flew right off my head! I could not chase my hat because my hat was blown away. My hat plus the wind equals faster than me. I hope a homeless person finds my hat and my hat keeps the homeless person's head warm. It is a good hat. I miss my hat. The End....

Question: Would it kill somebody to shovel the sidewalks in this godforsaken town? Follow-up question: If so, who would that "somebody" be? Can we just take a moment to consider whether his/her life is as valuable as me not slipping on the sidewalk and having warm, dry feet¹? I am thinking that - unless the "somebody" is me - my feet are probably going to win out. Ready the torches and pitchforks, everyone! ¹ I forgot to put on my boots when I went to class today².² :(...

I can't remember when the last time was that I owned proper winter boots. My last pair of boots were lace-up style and came up to my ankle, more like hiking boots than waterproof, snowproof ones. And I lost those somehow (or threw them away?) before I moved down to Ohio. Boots are one of those things that I don't usually think of until I need them, and then when I need them the in-store selection is scant and/or strange. Fortunately this year I planned ahead and was able to find sensible, plain-looking, faux-fur-lined black boots. I can even tuck...

No. I am too lazy for that. Instead I will challenge myself by leaving my homework until the very last moment (frequently the morning before I go to work, sometimes later) and end up trying to do the exercise a couple of answers ahead as we go along in class to see if I can get away with it. There is a strong low pressure system moving through the area today. It started out as a very windy day and has now turned into a very windy day with ominous dark clouds overhead. No, the clouds aren't really ominous. The sky today can be better described as evil. "Ominous" suggests that the clouds are saying, "You'd better look out or you're going to get rained on" or "Guess what? We're bringing an ice storm your way." I accidentally came to school today. I forgot the 1ASMS have a test, so I have no classes today. This wouldn't be so bad if a) the Internet worked, so I had something to do while I was here or b) I hadn't walked to school in the freezing freezing Michiganesque cold. They are doing work on my bus stop, so I had to walk to the next one and missed the bus in the process. And to think I considered wearing a skirt today. Brrrrrrrrrrrr....

We had a brief respite from the cold, but I think winter is coming now. Poop. "J'ai froid aux jambes," said the dumb girl who wore a skirt today....

The weather has been rather schizophrenic lately. Or maybe manic/depressive. You'd have to ask the psych major about that. I don't know my psychology terms or how to relate them to the weather. One minute the sun's out and the next there's a thunderstorm....

What's up with these short posts?

I guess I'm in a short-post mood. At least I'm in a posting mood, which I wasn't at the beginning of the week. The weather report lied to me. It is sunny and nice again today. Mmmmmmmm. Not as warm as yesterday, but it's the sun that matters. I'm not an outdoors person, but after a long grey winter, I feel a bit like a sunflower, turning my face up and trying to absorb as much sun as possible. Maybe there's a bit of chlorophyll in my veins after all. The French word for sunflower is tournesol, meaning that it...

The weather is so nice today. The sun is shining, it's about 55 degrees, people are walking around without coats on, classes are being held outside... Is it too much to hope that Spring is finally sprung? Sigh. Yes. Clouds and rain and forty degrees for the next 10 days. When the days are like this, I bask lazily in the sunshine all day long, then get depressed and frustrated in the evening because I didn't get anything done. Sigh....

Running in the cold hurts my lungs. Or my throat. Or something. It hurts so much I can't tell where. But my paper's handed in, so that's all that matters. It's so cold outside. It's so hot in the room. I hate winter....

Instead of the big puffy bumblebee-flakes that were coming down a few days ago, the wind has kicked in to help and there are now little tiny hornets flying at me and stinging my face. I'm moving to Tahiti....

ALBION, MI -- A van carrying eleven Albion College students and their organization's advisor to a conference in Ohio careened off the road today, killing everyone inside. One student, later identified by the tag in her underpants as Sarah M*****, managed to croak a few last words to our reporter on the scene before croaking herself. "Damned snow and ice," she whispered, clutching at the reporter's arm as the rescue team tried to dig her out from under the pile of CDs and games she had brought along on the trip, "I knew this was going to happen. Eleven students...

I shouldn't have said anything. The weather was beautiful and lovely yesterday and today it was cold and rainy. Which is only one day on the way to this weekend, when we are supposed to be having something like ice storms as we drive to Ohio. Poo poo poo....

I woke up this morning to Shades Apart's "Stranger By the Day" which starts out "Snow is falling from the sky..." It prompted me to look out the window and emit a rather unladylike expletive. I. Hate. Snow....

The weather is so beautiful and springy. I hate winter. I hope it's gone for good, but that's probably a little too optimistic for January....

It feels like September today. Or maybe spring. Whatever it is, it is wholly inappropriate for December. It's wrong it's wrong it's wrong. But please, Gods of Weather, do not pay attention to me. Even though I can't deal with this warm weather in my little walnut-brain, I don't want the cold weather to come. Here is my weather request: Exactly like this all through the winter except for December 24th and 25, when it will be nice and snowy. The snow will melt and the icky sludge and mud will disappear by the 26th. Thank you for your attention....

I hate snow. I. HATE. SNOW. At first, it was sort of a fluke. Oooh, snow on 25 October - how amusing. They were just little flakes - looked like the dandruff of the gods. Now it's really puffy big chunks of snowflakes. This is not funny. This is not a good joke. It had better warm up or somebody's gonna get it. If it starts sticking, there's gonna be trouble....
