Eye spy with my little eye a place beginning with eye

Or rather... I will in a week. Well, technically, a week from tomorrow at some obscene hour of the morning.

But where am I going? Will it be potatoes and Mormons¹, or corn and wrestlers, or car racing and basketball, or whatever Illinois is famous for? Will it be all leprechauns and shamrocks? Geysers and Björk? Religious fundamentalism and... um, reading Lolita? Roadside bombings and potential civil war? Curry and outsourced call centers? Marinara sauce and gondolas? Gamelans and... whatever else they have in Indonesia?

Such mystery! Just you wait and see!

Reading Lolita in Tehran. It made sense to me when I wrote it, but yeah, I can see how you wouldn't get it.

And the states confuse me as, apart from Idaho which is easy, I cannae be fashed to figure out what the othes are, but is that Idaho plus three or plus two. 'Cos *I* know there are four...

Denzylle has caught on - the place I'm going is the one I left off. So off I go to Ingushetia to enjoy the natural gas reserves and tense political situation!

It's Idaho + 3. Except that I couldn't think of anything (stereo)typically Illini.

Well, don't ride the buses, and don't get yourself invited to weddings or restaurants.

If it's work related, I guess there's plenty of mileage. My upstairs neighbour is from there, and escaped by way of Georgetown Uni, and is now at London Uni.

I've been assured, by people who have visited, that it's a lot safer than the media makes it out to be. We'll also have security people watching over us. Gotta go learn more about the country, because I know very little as it is.
