Keep on truckin'
My dad and I set off for Ohio on Friday to make the first of two big furniture-and-boxes runs in the minivan and to sign my lease. The plan was to go down-and-up on Friday, then to go down-and-up again on Sunday, this time with srahmom and apete, and this time leaving me behind.
Alas! Some gang aft agleying happened to our best laid plans.
We pulled out onto US-23 and almost immediately the "Check Engine" light turned on. So rather than drive eight hours round trip with that on, we turned around and went to the dealership, where it turned out that they found the worn-out valve that caused the light to come on... but also another valve, the blown-out shocks and the FRIGGIN' AXLE THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED!
All in all, probably a good thing that we didn't try to drive for 8 hours, because this meant that we didn't have to sit around in a mechanic's shop in the middle of Ohio, but could instead pack a few of the smaller remaining things into a car and drive down to sign the lease. The moving process was shorter, but that's okay because we'd had a much later start than planned. And we accidentally missed our exit and drove into Indiana. W00t!
Now that we don't have time to make two minivan runs, we've had to rent a truck for today's move. Nearly everything is packed in and we're hoping to hit the road at 7.
I don't have Internet in the apartment yet - in fact, I haven't even decided how I want to get connected or what package I want. Why the heck is cable so expensive? It's not very appealing. Sigh. Anyway, the first few weeks will feature an Internet-deprived srah occasionally ducking into coffee shops to upload blog posts and read email or - if I'm lucky - perhaps finding a neighbor with an unprotected wireless network. Heh heh.
Ciao, y'allz. Catch you on the flip side, if by flip side you mean Ohio.

Make sure you have all your shots before using unprotected wireless, especially in a foreign land such as Ohio.

Don't worry. All your vaccinations will protect you in Ohio just as much as in Michigan - if not better. Shout out to OH!

I am going to miss you even though I never see you. Just knowing you aren't half an hour away is what makes it so sad.
Let me know all about that new apartment (inside). How are you decorating it? Any themes? Will you shop at Pier 1 for accessories or do you have another favorite store like Marshall's? If there is a Stein Mart near there you must go to it.
Have fun! And check for unprotected wireless.
