I see dead people.

Everyone's monitor is set differently, so we'll all see different colors and contrasts and brightnesses and so forth.
As far as I am concerned, the season is not important, since blogs exist outside of time. Just my opinion.
The only problem I see with this layout is that the orange RSS icon on your main page really clashes. Minor point.

On which pages are you seeing black on burgundy? I can't think of anywhere where I've done that on purpose, so it may be a mistake.
The orange on the RSS button is just because that's become the traditional color for such buttons and is probably most recognizable to those looking for it.

Some known issues:
Why the heck does it try to load the whole individual entry page in the comments box once you post it? Fix that.
Can't tab through the form the way I JUST FIXED IT so you could. I can't find the code for the form! It's cleverly hidden somewhere in MT land. :(
The columns may or may not lay out funny in different versions of IE?

I like it... the leaves in your header graphic are from one of my favorite Photoshop brushes. Yay, Photoshop! One tiny suggestion would be to darken the page background by a shade or two, just to make your header pop a little bit more... but that's not really a big deal, and it works nicely the way it is.
Hurrah, redesigning!

I think I agree with chrispy's comment - the maroon on the sides is a bit intense. I find the contrast between the maroon and the pure white to be a little harsh on the eyes. Only a little, but there you go. I agree that you should extend the leafy pattern down the sides.

I think that the colors vary a lot from screen to screen. It looks just fine on mine! I'll continue comparing different computers I have access to, but I'm not extremely concerned. I think the leaves would be a bit too busy if I continued them through the whole background.

I think the leaves would make it too busy. The contrast seems OK from my point of view. Then again, I do have my monitor brightness adjusted so that the contrast in most programs doesn't hurt my eyes. In this case, I think you should let the individual user adjust their screen if it's particularly bothersome. If it was an obnoxiously bright neon green or something, then I'd have a different take.
I actually have to change the default white in some programs to an off-white or grey so that I'm not seeing spots by the end of the day. The default white backgrounds in Word and Excel are particularly bothersome to my eyes. I guess I look at computer screens too much - what a nerd.

I don't like it and thought the old one was fine. I have never like maroon, but besides that, it is hard to find and read your entries. They blend in too much with the one preceding it. I also have trouble with the comments being on the right side vs. the left. Sorry to be so negative, but you asked for complaints.
Not Your MOM - August 10, 2005 - 5:13 PM - ℓ
Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't me to be anoymous, I just forgot to type in my name. I went to the dentist today and am a bit out of it. That's my excuse today. :-)
I don't mind red, it is maroon that I don't like. Maybe because we were forced to have maroon and gold as our school colors.
The comments were on the left side and they are now on the right side. I'm sure I will get used to it though.
You asked for complaints, not compliments!
Not Your MOM - August 10, 2005 - 5:16 PM - ℓ
Oops, I mean I didn't mean to be anonymous (not me to be). You can tell I am out of it, I can't even splell any more.
The total comments have always been on the side as far as I can remember.
Not Your MOM - August 10, 2005 - 7:30 PM - ℓ
Also my blog name automatically appears in the name box when I type comments on the only other blog that I read. I like that feature. I sometimes forget that I need to type it in on yours. I don't mean to be anonymous or mysterious. :-)

Well done -- looks a bit like a Blogger template, but i've always liked those too, and you wrote this one yourself, so 3 cheers for that. This one is bolder than the old one, which is good (even tho i liked the pure white simplicity of the previous...) And yes, the serif font in the sidebar is excellent :)

One thing I've only just noticed that's different from before. Your comments section used to have the person's name at the top of the comment and the comment indented. Now it's at the bottom, and centered. I found it easier to follow them before. There's nothing in between comments to distinguish which name goes with which post (if you follow my meaning). I only noticed 'cause there's like 42 comments on this one now.
The color scheme of burgundy and gold is very rich, however I think the leaves in this scheme evoke a fall theme and it's not fall yet. A lighter color scheme for summer might be all that it needs.
A little bland with no pic up front like before.
The contrast on the posting details (date/blah blahs/pings) is much better - I can readily see them without having to mouse over them as before.
Just my $0.02
