Pay no attention to the crazy girl clutching the phone
I had my second phone interview today. It went a lot better than the first. I was better-prepared, I wasn't as nervous and I think the job's a really good fit. What's driving me crazy, though, is that the last words I said to the interviewer were "Good luck."
I don't even know what I meant. I think I meant "Good luck with the rest of [the conference that she's at]" but it just came out as "good luck." Maybe she interpreted it as "good luck with your selection process." But on the other hand, maybe she interpreted it as "good luck because if you hire me, you're gonna need it."
If I'd said it at any other point in the interview it would have been okay. Yeah, I said something weird, but I had the rest of the conversation to redeem myself. Now I ended things on a weird note.
I know I'm just being paranoid but... it's making me crazy!
Quick, someone make me think about something else.

I'm really glad that you are feeling better about the interview process! I'm also excited with the idea of the job being a good fit. And finally, I would have taken it as 'Good Luck' in the selection process.

She probably knew you were nervous and paid no attention or else got a good laugh about it afterward.... then told all her friends about it. Next we will see it as a skit on some late night show!

ha! that makes me giggle cause we've all been there. i love this entry. :) the interviewer has probably done it to and it makes you endearing. yes, this makes you incredibly endearing. it's not a big deal at all, but that doesn't mean you won't agonize over it. cute!

Something very similar happened to me during my phone interview for the grad assistantship. I don't remember what, I just remember hitting myself in the head after hanging up. And yet... I was offered the job. So go figure.
Probably she will tell everybody about it *and* hire you, so that everyone around the office will know you as "Luck-Wisher"*.
*Why does luck-wisher sound obscene? I keep getting this image of that swisher thingie used in toilets...
I don't think it's that big a deal. It's really the tone and way in which you said the good luck. and what it was in response to. But don't over think things or you will go crazy!
