Where the underlings can eat with elite

All of the Alternative Spring Break reports I've read about *Unidentified International Organization* talk endlessly about the cafeteria. I had built up an image in my mind of a huge room with 100-foot ceilings and marble everywhere, where hairnetted lunch-ladies surlily glop filet mignon and lobster onto your plate. The huge ceilings are, instead, in the part of the library where I'm working. But the cafeteria is pretty spectacular too. I haven't had my tour, but it's my favorite thing about *Unidentified International Organization* so far.

The cafeteria looks out over the river and the view is just as spectacular inside. It's a great place to people-watch; my favorite things to watch for are dress and beverage. Who's wearing traditional native dress, who's wearing contemporary Western dress, who's wearing a combination of both or has their own unusual style? Who's drinking Coke or Pepsi? Who's drinking orange juice, tea, coffee or bottled water? Where are these people from? What languages do they use to communicate with each other?

I could sit in the cafeteria all day, but unfortunately I have to work, too. The project is pretty interesting, but I'm afraid I don't know what I'm doing. I felt the same way last year, though, and they seemed pretty pleased with my results. So perhaps I'll pull it off again!

The snow has begun. The prediction is 6-10 inches. We are not amused. How is one expected to buy cheap knockoff purses in Chinatown in the driving snow? I mean, really! Work with me here, New York!

there were plenty of cheap knockoff purses everywhere in DC - even at the metro stops.
