Interesting fact: I breathe
mindless drivel recently blogged about the blather/chat session on Jeopardy! where Alex Trebek talks to contestants about interesting (or more frequently uninteresting) facts about themselves:
"It's easy to sit here and make fun of these people and say how boring their lives must be. But then I start to wonder, "What would it say on my card?" I mean, honestly, how many of our lives feature moments that are interesting when told in fifteen second summaries?"
Indeed. I often think that the reason I didn't make it on College Jeopardy was a) that I was still 18 Year Old Srah (timid and shy and scared was I, of things beyond my ken) and b) I couldn't come up with anything interesting to say for my personal facts.
What the hell? I had just been to France for a week as a school trip! Somehow I never find France an exciting or interesting thing to talk about. My dog had just bitten my friend on the nose! Well, that was an interesting fact about the dog, not me. I had sat in the hallway with my friends for weeks on end, working on a project wherein we made those hand-holding paper dolls and drew faces and clothes on each one so that we had one for every person on our hall! Yes, perhaps best not to admit that.
I think there are probably many interesting facts about me but the problem is that I live with me. Nothing I do is new or interesting to me because I've already lived it.
