'Oh yeah? Well your BUTT IS BIG!'

Is it a full moon? Is that why everyone at this abbey is insane?

I was eating dinner tonight around the corner from our kitchen when I heard someone walk into the kitchen and open the freezer door. I got up to see if it was Chris (who is now the only one who shares it with me - sniff sniff) and it wasn't.

"Excuse me," I said to the man in our kitchen, "Um, this is the staff kitchen. It's for staff only."

"I knowwwwwww," he replied petulantly, in the tone of voice used by sullen teenagers, although he had to be at least thirty.

I was a little taken aback by his response. "Um... so, it's for staff only and--"

"I was just loookiiing," he continued in the same tone. "It's not illegal to look, is it?"

Well, no it isn't. It is strange, however, that you would want to look in the staff freezer, knowing that it's the staff freezer. When I arrive in a new place, my first thought is not usually to determine exactly what the staff eats.

"Um... well, it's just that we've had problems with people eating stuff from our refrigerator."

"Well I wasn't eating anything. I was just looking," he replied defensively. A little too defensively, if you ask me. "Besides," he continued, "I've had problems with people making noise until 2 am."

I just stared at him. What did that have to do with anything? Why was that my problem? Unfortunately, my confusion allowed him to make his escape, which was probably what he wanted in the first place. It's so frustrating that I keep coming up with good comebacks now, when it's too late.

Is it Be Irrational With Sarah Day today or something? Is there something written on my forehead?

I'm sleeping over at the main interns' residence tonight because I can't stand to spend the night in the same building as these people!

Right, he's not REALLY going to steal someone else's food. Just like people didn't REALLY mean to cut in line when I was in Strasbourg.

He probably had a craving for ice cream.
