Je me déplaise en faisant la Java

I got an internship offer. First-year students at SI live for internship offers. It's in Peru, home of Machu Picchu, where I have always wanted to go. And I, ungrateful tart that I am, am going to turn it down.

When I initially applied for internships through IAESTE, I was a young, energetic Java programmer, full of Hello World! and vim and vigor. I knew that I would pick up useful skills during the semester that would get me a crackerjack internship with plenty of lovely experience!

Now I am old and jaded and have come to realize that if I accepted an internship that involved programming in Java all day, I would soon have to throw myself under a collectivo.

So, in the interest of not forcing my loved ones to pay for the repatriation of my remains, I'm going to have to decline. It feels really rotten to turn down an internship offer when I have no real prospects for any others.

O Google! Despite the passing of your deadline in mid-February, I hope that thou shalt accept my humble application, which I shall be sending on Monday.

You would sacrifice seeing a 600 yr old misty mountaintop Incan city for not living and breathing Java for 4 months? How crazy!

(Although viewing *pictures* of a 600 yr old misty mountaintop Incan city with a sane mind isn't that bad either...)

Well you have fun with your Java.

I've been spending time working with HTML/CSS to redesign my site. (*shameless plug*)
