There is such a thing as a free lunch

Complaining aside, I guess I do have to take some initiative on getting professors to remember my name and/or face. Hence, Take Your Professor To Lunch Day.

On the 10th of every month, U-M has a secret (or perhaps just badly-advertised) program where you can have a free lunch in one of the campus restaurants for up to four people, including a professor, instructor, or GSI. (I can't find a website about it, but if you're on the U-M campus, you can go to room 1310 in the Michigan Union to get a voucher. It will be happening again March 10 and April 9 if you miss this one.)

So Mr B------ and Young Matthew and I decided to be proactive* and woo professors with free lunch.

This has turned out better than we imagined, because the professor we invited got very excited and when we had to inform him that the voucher could only be used at university restaurants, it prompted him to invite us out for lunch at a non-campus restaurant for another time.

* I freaking HATE that word
