Professors gotta eat, too!
U-M has organized a "Take Your Professor to Lunch Day" where on the 10th of each month, a group of up to three students can take a professor or GSI out to lunch in one of the campus restaurants and it's free for all involved. Although I think I would have ignored it if it were just me, now that I was convinced to do it, I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't go. You learn more about your professor, they learn more about you, and you all get a free lunch. Good deal.
The best part of it was that I voiced some of my concerns about the class to my professor and told him about things I felt I wasn't understanding in the class. He pointed out that it was a pretty superficial introductory class and that the concepts I wasn't understanding were deeper things that I needn't worry about. So it turns out I'm a genius after all. Hoo-rah.
Note: I don't particularly recommend the turkey and mozzarella baguette at the University Club, because it is rather flavorless. The lentil soup, however, gets a big thumbs up.

You left out the role of agency in your decision to go to lunch!

I liked the food review. By campus restaurants, does this mean the big place in the Union and the one at the League, or like Subway? Cause that wouldn't be as fun.
This advice will, of course, be extremely useful since I'm there all the time.
As if.
