It takes so little to offend me

I hate it when people say "without any further adieu". It's ado. Ado! As in Much Ado About Nothing! Fuss! Hullaballoo! Not goodbye!

Thank you. I've learned something new today. I will remember this in the future. Adieu.

I hate hearing the people at my office talk about a point being mute. It makes me want to scream at them and say "MOOT! MOOT! It's YOU that should be mute!"

On a totally unrelated note, that is an extremely cute picture of you. (No, that wasn't a come-on.)

It occurs to me that every time you post a new picture, I awkwardly say nothing for a while because it doesn't feel right to put it in post comments. Finally, though, I must.

I propose that you make each new picture its own post in a mini photo-blog (or phblog, for short), with comments of their own, so that we can tell you how cute you are.

And that, that was a come-on. :ox

You GO, girl! (To both of you...)

One of the best things about frequenting Srah Blah Blah, is that I, over and over, realize that I'm not the only Grammar Nazi out there, haha. Of course, I only nazi about Swedish. English is slightly beyond my Whining Jurisdiction. Thank you. :-)

Yes! Yes, yes, yes!!

How's this for making you cringe: a girl once, while speaking to a friend of mine, actually said, "Well, after conversating with him about it for awhile..."

Because, you know, apparently conversate is a verb.

In a previous job, in London, my "trainer" kept pointing to the document and talking about "asterix points". She was, of course, referring to asterisks, and not dimunitive French cartoon characters.

Are you a dancing bear, Jez?

And Katie - thank you. It's good for the ol' ego to be hit on by someone far away. Preferably someone far away rather than nearby. Ahem.

Well, if we ever actually do meet, I'll be sure to hit on you at least once while in close proximity, just for posterity.

As opposed to hitting you on the posterior, which is different.

Today at the zoo, some woman ran up to the chimps and started exclaiming "look at the monkeys!" over and over, which irritated us all because they are APES and we are all a bunch of crazy anthropologists. Ok, not exactly the same as your grammer point, but still....

gravatar srah - September 17, 2003 - 8:05 PM -

Hate to admit it, but to me, monkeys is monkeys.

gravatar katie - September 18, 2003 - 8:03 AM -

Why does that sound like something Bucky would say?
