Homework? What homework?
I have to come up with 250 user interfaces. I am going insane.
Is a peanut a user interface?
It's gotten to the point where I have to make a separate list of Things That Are Not User Interfaces so that things like "a squirrel", "a lemon" and "a peanut" will stop repeating endlessly in my head.
Please send me a screenshot of your Mac desktop or whatever they call the desktop on a Mac.

i just realized that I should have used "past" instead of "passed"! Don't hate me because I am tired.

Here's something for you to talk about in class, somewhere:
I'm on the phone with one of our graduate students. She has questions about using Webmail. After explaining how it all works, and ensuring that she does indeed understand (FINALLY!!!) I say, "I suggest you just play with it for a while, so that you'll be familiar with the interface."
Silent pause. Finally, in a snooty 'how dare you say something I don't understand' kind of voice, she says, "And by interface, you mean...?"
Honestly, I couldn't think of anything to say. INTERFACE. The...interface. The thing you interface with. The thing in between you and your email, that allows you to interface with your email because you're too much of a moron to use Pine. Interface.
Tell, me oh HCI goddess, how in the world can I explain what an interface is to someone who doesn't know the meaning of the word???

Ahem.
I had to rate this website for a computer class (non-existant, of course), and I have to say that this site rocks.YOu have no life and your millions of friends love you for it (har har har). If you are 22 (gee, I thought you were 23 now, you whippersnapper) yrs old then you should never ever stop this awesome website, nor should you get a JOB (because then you'd blog even less and that would be BAD!). I now love you and your website more than ever before. I want to pay you for they 5 minutes of my life that I enriched.

And...
hmm... your website is possibly the most coolest thing that i have ever read in my life. shouldn't you be posting more often or doing something even more productive with your blog, such as continuing to please your already-wonderfully happy friends. well your highly appropriate and sentimental segment on johnny cash was just simply transcendental because you stated that it was a "great lose 2the music world" when right after you stated that you thought he died 20 years ago, which was such a true vision of the sometimes-contradicting complexities that ARE johnny cash. - with love, UVM Grad who is totally speechless at the fact that a self-professed Harvard graduate would use the phrase "the most lamest thing"

How did you manage to get your blog onto a "rate this site for a grade" list? Obviously, someone older and wiser (read: a professor-with a Ph D) than the silly undergads who can't type or use proper grammar thought your pithy remarks and subtle dry wit were worthwhile and not "the most lamest thing". Personally, I find that the courage it takes to share your deepest thoughts and observations transcends even your witty content. Bravo to srah, and suck my wang to everyone else.
Sincerely, an employed protein crystallizer with a double degree from Albion.

this could get good . . .
gotta make me some popcorn and pull up a chair.
Mr. Hibbity Gibbity - September 17, 2003 - 4:59 PM - ℓ
Though I certainly don't want to get in the middle of this . . .
Um . . . I think 'harvard grad' should look up the word 'hypocritical'.
Typically, 'hypocrisy' has nothing to do with being mistaken, ill-informed, or as in your case, utterly ignorant.
Though I suspect that this has been a ruse by a good friend of Srah's - we just don't get the joke yet. Am I correct, Srah?

Oh, Oh . . . by the way, since people tend to get a little 'touchy' on blogs, IM, email . . . whatever . . . I'm referring to the 'grad' when I say 'utterly ignorant' . . .
I now return to my regularly scheduled . . .

Nope, not a friend of mine. Just a passing troll, who I expect has moved on by now. The general procedure for dealing with such things at srah.net is "Ignore them and they'll go away", but usually ends up being "Ignore them and they'll go away, with my usual visitors hurling insults at their retreating forms."
Love you guys, and JDay gets ten Imaginary Dollars for suggesting that the troll suck her wang.

This site is cool. Stupid people suck. My sister is not unemployed or twenty-two. Her site does not suck. She has friends, internet and real-life.
She doesn't know anything about Johnny Cash. This does not make her site any less amusing.
A 19-year-old little sister of the blogger who wishes that people would shut up about her sister's blog sucking when it clearly doesn't based on the positive response she has received from so many people.
katie - September 23, 2003 - 4:22 PM - ℓ
Dan, you must be reeeeeeeally smart and not ignorant. See, because by your logic, someone who talks about stuff they don't know about is ignorant. And since you're talking about being "a waste of human potential", which I'll bet you know tons about, that makes you really smart. Congrats.
Now go away, before Jez ridicules you for being a pimply youth that should get out more.
T-bone is going to shoot herself if she has to come up with anymore interface designs. Hey, a t-bone, that's not a user interface. Add that one to your list.
I am sorry sarah, I don't have a screen shot of your old blog. I usually save everything you do and add it to my "sarah shrine" that I worship every night. but I just don't know how this one slipped passed me. Oooh, perhaps I should write about the Sarah shrine for my 504 collection paper.
