Boy are we dumb! My
Boy are we dumb!
My family watched (and taped for me!) a show on CBC (the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation or Company or something) called "Talking to Americans".
In this special, their reporter goes to the U.S. and... talks to Americans.
I'm sure there were some smart Americans that were edited out for being
too smart. They did leave in one kid who contradicted the reporter when
he was talking about the Canadian states rather than provinces. But the
gist of the show is "How dumb are Americans?" Excellent! Among those tricked
was Al Gore, who was told that when he was eventually elected president,
he should come to Toronto because it's a tradition for a president's first
trip to be to Canada's capital.
Michigan Secretary of State Candice Miller, Governor John Engler, and everyone's
favorite president, Jorge W. Arbusto, were all meeting together when the
reporter asked them what they thought of Canada's prime minister, Jacques
Poutine. Some American, when asked if the heads of Taft, Nixon and Mulroney
should be added to Mount Rushmore, said that he didn't think so because they
weren't very good presidents. And so on and so on. Sigh. Congratulations,
Canada, on your 500th mile of paved road! And that goes for your prime minister,
Tim Horton,
too! My mom and I were making fun of the people on the show but we realized
that the average non-CBC-watching American might not know who the prime minister
of Canada is. Do you?

The prime minister of Canada changed and I, deprived of my CBC, didn't find out till I got home and watched Royal Canadian Air Farce's New Year's show.
