Blogging into the void

I went to dinner with this and had this. Later, I moved on and had dinner with this and this (should have used flash. darn).

This year's International Week theme is Mexico. Tonight was the Mexican dinner. Yum yum yum. I was very upset that most people seemed to be ignoring the Mexican food and eating sandwiches or something. I tried a little of everything.

1) Some kind of salad with avocado in it. Mmmm, avocado. Avocado and lots of it. The French words for "avocado" and "lawyer" are the same word. When the lawyers went on strike last year, I played dumb and made everyone imagine little green avocats carrying banners and signs.

2) A nice vegetable salad. Carrots, radishes, beets, egg, more carrots (zanahorias), green beans, and I forget what else, in a vinegary kind of sauce.

3) Some kind of desserty thing with apples and bread. Not the best thing on the menu.

4) Homemade (home-fried?) tortilla chips. Mmm. Very good with...

5) Brazilian black bean ragout, as it has been labeled. Brazilian, rather than Mexican, but very tasty. Mmmmmmmm.

6) I would normally never even look in the direction of rice pudding, but I was being multiculturally understanding and adventurous. I'm glad I was.
