Cafeteria Food, etc.

I complain about cafeteria food as much as the next person. But really, we're quite lucky. We may not have a noodle bar, like Wooster, but we do have a lot of interesting foods. You can always find something to eat, if you have enough imagination.

I think that's what's wrong with Albion students in a lot of cases.

There's nothing to doooooo in Albion... I have no problem finding things to do with my friends. Playing games, watching videos, going to the movies, campus-sponsored events, visiting friends, going out to dinner, or sitting in Baldwin or the KC or someone's room for hours and talking... I've never really been bored. Freshman year, we would hang out on our own hall. We made paper dolls of everyone on the hall and gave them to our RA. Jillian and I would make up songs. We danced around, dressed up, talked... nope, we weren't bored. There was plenty to do in Albion. Maybe if you had friends instead of drinking buddies, you would have things to do, too.

There's nothing to eat in Baldwin... One of my favorite things to eat is a pita and some hummus from the sandwich bar, plus some tomatoes and sour cream from the Mexican bar. Most people don't think like that. They look at what's on the main bar or the deli bar and if they don't like it, they leave. They don't think to combine things. They have no imagination. When there's chicken, I cut it up and put it on a salad. Even a turkey sandwich can be nice with some Grey Poupon on it. Take some French Onion soup and add cheese from the pizza bar and croutons from the salad bar! Run a bagel with cottage cheese and tomato sauce through the pizza oven! Try something new, even if it looks funny! You would be surprised at how good Shepherd's Pie actually is. If there's any rice pudding left at dinner, I'm putting it in an ice cream cone and stealing it.

I don't know what my point was. They expect to be spoon-fed, I guess. They want activities and food served to them the way they like them and if they don't get it, they'll whine and complain about it. I'm glad I'm not like that. I hope I'm not like that.
