Once you go Firefox...

I recently upgraded Firefox. Nothing drastic - just clicking on the little "Firefox has updates for you to download" button that pops up. However, something went wonky in relation to my firewall and I could open the program but couldn't access any pages with it. A browser is not terrifically useful if you can't access pages, so I found myself using Internet Explorer to try to figure out the problem and to get by until I could figure out where on the network the problem lurked, then how to fix it.

I always knew that Firefox was better than Internet Explorer, but I didn't realize how much better it was until I lost it. I'm sure part of my frustration was because all of my bookmarks and bookmarklets were stored in Firefox, but the simplest things like tabbed browsing or not having the browser hang in the middle of loading a page were sorely missed.

Something in the settings we fiddled with must have worked, because Firefox and I are reunited. And it feels so good.

When I get home you need to help me with the Firefox thing because I tried to download it and it wouldn't work. Same problem, opens, no pages appear.

I restarted my computer today and the problem started up again! Now I've uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and it seems to be working (so far). You'd also have to make sure your firewall isn't blocking it, but now I'm starting to think it's something caused by the upgrade rather than anything blocking.

Give me a call next time you're in a computer lab.

I sort of recently had a weird Winamp problem due to an update; but, I fixed it by uninstalling and reinstalling the older version I had saved on my computer.

I'm soooo sorry you had to deal with IE only. Personally I like Netscape, but if I could easily transfer data between Firefox and Netscape then I would be on top of the world!
