Doing the things that a jelly bean can...

I was walking along South University last night when I saw a man dressed as a giant lemon Jelly Belly¹ wearing a chef's hat, presumably advertising for the new(ish) candy store there. I was disappointed with myself because I had considered bringing my camera with me but at the last minute had decided to leave it in the car because I never see anything interesting anyway.

I got to the SHEEPDIP and told apete about it. When he was done with his shift there, he walked me back to my car so that I could put my laptop in the trunk rather than taking it to the bar. I was excited to show him the Jelly Bean Man, but when we passed the store, he was nowhere in sight! We walked past the store again and didn't see him.

Once we got to the bar, I realized that I had left my wallet at home and didn't have any ID so I couldn't get in. I decided to go back to the structure, get my car, drive home, get my wallet and come back. So I had to pass in front of Sweet U again on the way to my car and - of course - the Jelly Bean Man was back. And - of course - I still didn't have my camera with me. I was now frustrated with the Jelly Bean Man ruining all of my opportunities to prove his existence, so I decided that I would drive out of my way and try to take a picture of him as I went by. But in the less-than-five-minutes it took to get to my car and leave the structure, he disappeared again.

Once I got my wallet and returned to campus, I again drove out of my way in the hopes that I would see the Jelly Bean Man and have the opportunity to catch him on film. And - again - he was not there when I actually had a camera.

I may be losing my mind. The Jelly Bean Man may be a bizarre figment of my imagination that disappears whenever I have the opportunity to confirm his existence. I think I'm just going to sit in the corner and shiver and drool for a while.

¹ I know that he was a Jelly Belly and a lemon-flavored one at that because he was labeled as such, not because I tasted.

THAT'S VERY NICE FOR YOU, SRAH. And you probably also have a singing and dancing frog that's mysteriously quiet whenever anyone else watches?

How great would it be if you starting seeing Jellybean Man around you everywhere you went? Like the Indian ghost Jim Morrison used to see -- this would be your obsession!

Pretty sweet.

I was going to refer to the JBM as "doing a Dead Frog" but I figured only my family would get the reference. *tears of joy*
