Post-phone interview, or I put on a suit for this?
I hate talking on the phone anyway, so why should I think a phone interview's going to be any better? Why can't I say anything good? Why do I have sentences that trail off at the end or end with "and things like that"? Why do I sound like such a feeb?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

Back in the old days when I used to interview for jobs I would pretend I was in a play. My role was a person who didn't need the job and wasn't very interested, but I was being kind to the interviewer and answered his dumb questions to the best of my abilities. It seems to have worked because I usually got the job. Does this sound like a method you could use? :-)

i second the suggestion about practice. i once had a phone interview for a summer internship, and i practiced beforehand, and my friend was basically like, "i can't tell if you're making a joke because i can't see you, so don't try to be clever."
kind of like homer, when bart wanted to quit the football team, calling up mr. burns and telling him he wanted to quit because he was a big quitter too, then winking into the phone.

I'm sure the interview was not as bad as you think it was. But you need a little more practice and a llittle more confidence. I'm sorry I didn't give you my archival pep talk before the interview.
You need to get a book on job interviewing and then practice with someone, on the phone and in person. Really. Interviews are important and if you are serious about getting a job, you have to take it seriously.
