'Don't worry, sir... they'll ride up with wear.'

When I left the house this morning, my pants were too long... and now they're just right.

I don't know how to feel about this.

I recently learned that some tailors do not like to take measurements first thing in the morning, as people's bodies take some time to settle into waking alignment. It may be that, in the morning, you were still somewhat relaxed from sleep, and straightened up as the day went on.

That said, we do not knee trousers.

Is there a clever joke there? It's too clever for me. :(

In an episode of "Are You Being Served", Mr Lucas is instructed how to make a jacket fit (at least until it leaves the store) by inserting a knee into the armhole and gently popping a few stitches. When he attemps to do this to a pair of trousers, his knee goes right through the crotch. Captain Peacock admonishes him with the last five words of my comment above.
