'All those who didn't indulge in inadvertent cannibalism this evening take a step forward. Max, Toby, not so fast.'
I left work today and checked my cell phone to see if I had any new messages. "INSERT SIM CARD," said my cell phone.
I froze with fear*.
In the book I've been trying to read for a month now, all of the characters, who are trapped on an island, have the SIM cards in their cell phones removed. Then they get lost in the woods, accidentally eat the chef for dinner and get hunted for sport.
I have to assume that when your SIM card is missing, that means you are in for the same. Luckily, turning the phone off and on has revealed that the card is, in fact, still there.
Safe! ... for now.

* I may be exaggerating. Which is good, because I think I was halfway across State Street at the time and freezing with fear there would mean sudden death.
