« Four cups so far...

Brushing my teeth should not require this much concentration!

Becky and I have come to Bourges for a weekend of shopping, sightseeing and - most importantly - boss-avoiding. So after work, we did some last minute (over-)packing and took the hour and a half trip to the southeast.

We are staying with Becky's ex-boyfriend, Nicolas, who works here although he's a native Pontlevien. He picked us up from the train station in his convertible, we squashed our excessive luggage and ourselves in and set off.

We had to do something for dinner, so it came down to pizza, Chinese or making something at home, so that we could work around watching the France-Greece quarter-final Euro Cup match on TV. We decided to make dinner, so we went to the hypermarché. They were even starting the soldes there, so I found a cheap pair of flip-flops while I was there. Apparently they are all the rage these days and I was terribly behind the times, not to mention having brought four pairs of shoes with me to France... three of which are black. So now, because the red ones with strawberries on them weren't available in my size, I have some plain beige canvas ones. Flip-flops are so cheap, I'll have to keep an eye out for a more exciting pair later.

Nicolas shared with us the Pineau de Charentes he got for his birthday, as an apéritif, then we made fajitas and ate them with margaritas as we watched France be athletically humiliated, 1-0.

The game ended, we did the dishes and cleaned up and then didn't know exactly what to do with ourselves. So we went out for one drink at the bar around the corner. I had a Framboise St-Louis, Becky had a Calvados and Nico had another margarita, which came with all kinds of frou-frou straws and streamers and marshmallows and plastic monkeys sticking out of it. The glass had also been dipped in fruit syrup and then in coconut, rather than being rimmed with salt or sugar. What the heck kind of margarita is that?

Now we're back in the apartment, getting ready for bed. G'night!

I was most distressed to learn that les magnificent bleus had been knocked out by some nobodies from Greece.

*grins broadly*

At least England lost to a decent team. Who also had the referee biased towards them. *grumble*
