'He's just another scripture thumping hack from Galilee'

I saw Elf last night with the Pato. I know everyone on earth has already seen it and loved it, but I feel obliged to put my two cents in. It was terribly cute and very funny. I was surprised that a Will Ferrell movie would turn out to be so cute and innocent.

Later, I watched Jesus Christ Superstar* with Mr B------. Having heard so many different versions of the soundtrack, I had quite a different image of the production in my mind. It's now my mission to remake the movie in a style that isn't quite so... 70s.

* Because nothing says "Christmas" like a movie about Jesus' death!

but.... what is JCS if not 70s?

I dunno. It wasn't in my mind. I'm not sure I've ever seen a production of it. In my mind, it's a LOT more like Life of Brian. :)

Well, you can bring it up with Keith as something we can do after finishing Le Strat!

Besides, for all you know, the second half may be a complete epic period piece...

Isn't Life of Brian tinged with the 70s too though?

Yes, "tinged", but JCS takes place in the middle of the friggin' desert! And is very conscious of being a movie! There *is* no Jerusalem! And yet there is a garden of Gethsemane, for some reason!

I hate the movie. Mostly because I don't like that guy playing Jesus. I've seen various productions of it (and was in it in high school) and all were more enjoyable than the movie.

I'm partial to the Original London Concept Recording. My mom used to play the album every Easter.
