Earlier this week, I checked out the Blogosphere Ecosystem site and I was a Slimy Mollusc. Today I'm a Flippery Fish. How did that happen? I am an evolutionary marvel!

They're all little blogging directory/meme things, with different variations. I don't think I'd compare this to BlogShares at all, except that it ranks in terms of popularity.

It ranks you according to how many people with a blog registered on their system that uses sitemeter have linked to you, not on how often you blog, or how popular your blog is. The first day you sign up, you're always an insignificant microbe, hence the fast evolution. The way to up your ranking is to look on there for blogs that have only a few visits per day, and beg them to blogroll you. Ahem. So I'm told. I wouldn't know personally. Shyah, riiiiiight.
