Prescriptive? But of course.

While watching TV last night, I noted three times that a character said "me" when he meant "I" or vice versa. I realize that people do talk like that in real life, but to do so on TV is just going to encourage people to speak English badly. I'm sure it happens on TV all the time, but it just got to me last night and drove me insane.

Use "I" as the object of a preposition and fear my wrath. Constant vigilance!

How exciting. I knew that post was going to encourage on smart-ass bad-grammar comments. BRING 'EM ON. :)

Now that I've made this post I'm going to be self-conscious about my own grammar and go crazy.

I think what really bothers me is when people do it wrong because they're trying to be ultra-correct and they say things like, "Would you like to go out with Bill and I?" Sometimes people think I is always right and me is always wrong.

Is it I?

That one confuses me. I had hoped no one would bring it up.

I'm all for evolution on a vocabulary level, but I think we need rules for structure.

I AM a Weird Al Yankovic fan! Sounds like GREAT make-out music! Will it have One More Minute?

I would like to expand this "tv teaches poor lessons" concept to include that stupid Grape Nuts cereal commercial that teaches folks to run away from a bear if you encounter one.

For the record: If you see a bear in the woods, stand stock still because their eyesight is bad and they can't see you if you don't move. Think T-Rex from Jurassic Park.

Thank you for the valuable lesson in Defence Against The Big Bears.
