srah's Musical Trivia Quiz III: The Return of the Quiz

Becky has inspired me to start again. The research for the latest edition of Srah's Musical Trivia Quiz (which always seems to happen when I am musical-soundtrack-and-Discman-clad at work and have nothing better to think about) was grueling. It took great effort to stop from bursting out loudly in song and dancing around in my chair.

1) What I give, I choose to give
2) Look in your mind/ I'm there, nothing's new
3) Up there where skies are ocean blue
4) No one can make us give our rights away
5) Let's all stroke together like the Princeton crew
6) Tell me the bad times are clean washed away
7) Yes, it came direct from Paris, France
8) Beedle-ee-dee-tee-dee
9) I leave and heave a sigh
10) Catch the moon/ One-handed catch
11) Super-ultra bonus points for admitting you know: Somebody soon will love you/ If no one loves you now

Guess away! Musical and/or song title! The wronger the better!

11. love makes the world go round?

gravatar srah - June 2, 2003 - 1:54 PM -

Damn. Kate gets the Super Duper Booger Points before anyone else has a crack. So I will declare that these points are negative and you have to make them up with other correct answers.

Are there any Albionites out there who can tell me what's special about this song for more Super Duper Booger Points?

#5 is from Chicago. It's "When You're Good To Mama." I need to think about the rest.

gravatar srah - June 2, 2003 - 2:16 PM -

V. good. Think away.

gravatar alfie - June 2, 2003 - 2:16 PM -

#9 is The Sound of Music.

gravatar srah - June 2, 2003 - 2:17 PM -

#4 is "Seize the Day."
#9 is "So Long, Farewell."

gravatar srah - June 2, 2003 - 2:30 PM -

Yes yes yes yes yes. Where are the wrong answers? I thought it was going to be too hard. Next time I will show no mercy.

gravatar alfie - June 2, 2003 - 2:32 PM -

Have you figured out any more of mine or are you still waiting to see if Bob can uncover the answers? Mwahahahahahahaha! My stupid comments are down right now, but should be back up eventually.

gravatar srah - June 2, 2003 - 2:42 PM -

No, I don't know any more. I hope Bob will get them!

gravatar katie - June 2, 2003 - 3:10 PM -

Ok, if it makes you happy, I didn't get any of them until people started posting the answers. And that Sound of Music one was a gimme! I should have seen it a mile away.

So it's wrong answers you want, eh?

#5 could be from Pippen. (I'm being lewd, if you didn't know.)
#7 is from Moulin Rouge.
#8 is from Alice and Wonderland Music on Ice.

gravatar srah - June 2, 2003 - 3:12 PM -

Thank you. Those are just wrong enough to please me.

gravatar Aunt Pat - June 2, 2003 - 6:29 PM -

I think #6 is from Little Shop of Horrors but I can't remember which song.

I think #6 is from Little Shop of Horrors but I can't remember which song.

gravatar Aunt Pat - June 2, 2003 - 6:30 PM -

Whoops! Sorry about the double post.

gravatar srah - June 3, 2003 - 8:29 AM -

Yes ma'am.

gravatar bobby - June 3, 2003 - 11:21 AM -

I have been summoned...
Sorry if some have already been aswered--
These are hard!
1-"It's all the Same" - Man on Lamancha
2-"Starlight Expess"
5-"When You're Good to Mama" - Chicago
7-"Paris Orignal"-How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying
6-"Suddenly Seymore"-Little Shop of Horrors
8-"Two Ladies" - Cabaret
10-"Somewhere" - West Side Story
11-"Love Makes the World Go 'Round" - The Scarlet Pimpernell

PS-Srah-email me at robertianbullen@yahoo.com from now on. I get so much junk mail at my albion account, I just trash it--only by chance did I see your name. :-)

gravatar srah - June 3, 2003 - 11:52 AM -

I stumped Bob! I stumped Bob!

7 is wrong. 11's title is right but the play is WRONG and as an Albionite, I am ashamed of you.

gravatar srah - June 3, 2003 - 11:57 AM -

Just to clarify, this is where we stand so far:

1) What I give, I choose to give [Man of La Mancha]
2) Look in your mind/ I'm there, nothing's new [Starlight Express]
3) Up there where skies are ocean blue
4) No one can make us give our rights away [Newsies]
5) Let's all stroke together like the Princeton crew [Chicago]
6) Tell me the bad times are clean washed away [Little Shop of Horrors]
7) Yes, it came direct from Paris, France
8) Beedle-ee-dee-tee-dee [Cabaret]
9) I leave and heave a sigh [The Sound of Music]
10) Catch the moon/ One-handed catch [West Side Story]
11) Super-ultra bonus points for admitting you know: Somebody soon will love you/ If no one loves you now ["Love Makes the World Go 'Round" - from what musical?]

Hints: #3 is a non-traditional musical, #7 is very traditional, and #11 is rather obscure and sucky.

gravatar bobby - June 3, 2003 - 12:56 PM -

11-Carnival!!

gravatar bobby - June 3, 2003 - 12:58 PM -

8 would be more like "Beedlee-Deedlee-dee"

gravatar bobby - June 3, 2003 - 1:00 PM -

7- Seven Brides for Seven Bother's perhaps? Goin' Co'tin'

gravatar srah - June 3, 2003 - 1:11 PM -

Oll Korrect, Bobby. Anyone for #3? If no one gets it by the end of the day, I'll post it.

gravatar alfie - June 4, 2003 - 1:07 AM -

Is #7 from Oklahoma?

gravatar srah - June 4, 2003 - 8:34 AM -

No, Bob already got it. 7 brides, 7 brothers, etc. etc.
