I could never be a vegetarian

Although I don't eat a lot of meat, every once in a while, I crave a big hunk of steak. I'm not very good at giving things up for moral reasons, either. I once tried to give up tuna fish because I heard that the tuna population was being depleted because they had to be older than other fish to reproduce and we were picking them out of the sea before they had a chance. That didn't last too long. I like tuna fish too much.

My paternal grandmother was a vegetarian, as were her ancestors, going back to the 1840s. It's my generation and the one before me who have dropped the custom. That's my family for you - we always want to be going against the normal trends. We were vegetarians when it wasn't popular and started eating meat just when everyone was becoming a vegetarian.
