At least I'm not her

Sometimes I worry that my writing style is going downhill because I blog so informally. I think that people will not respect me if I can't write like a grown-up. Then, I think "What's for supper?".

There's an article about spelling and grammar in the Detroit Free Press today. My favorite part is the quote from a Free Press reader who doesn't think there are any spelling or grammar problems in the paper. I only hope she said this out loud, rather than writing it:

..."It's important to be as correct as possible because we absorb by what we read. So if they read what's incorrectly written, then they believe that's the way it should be," said Carr.

"It seems that our language is getting worse and worse, but that might not be true. But it seems that way. More and more things, like things written on signs, make it seem like we know less about the proper use of our language," she said...
