My sister and I watched the video tonight for Chamillionaire's Ridin', following a conversation about Weird Al's parody of the song. From the context of the video, we couldn't tell exactly what "ridin' dirty" consisted of - Chamillionaire just seems to get pulled over a lot and the police hassle or abuse him, but we didn't understand what his confessed "ridin' dirty" consisted of. So in true White & Nerdy fashion, I looked it up in Wikipedia. And there it was! Wikipedia, thou art the answer to nearly all my questions....

Twinkies and ding-dongs won't do

Last week I followed a link in Dooce's links blog to a YouTubed video by New Kids on the Block. I mostly missed the New Kids train back in the late 80s. I was busy, as is my wont, listening to oldies and musicals instead of The Hip Trendy New Music The Kids Are Listening to. I did not have New Kids dolls or a New Kids sleeping bag or a New Kids Trapper Keeper. I was aware of them, and knew the tunes of their songs and all, but I didn't have <old man voice>the cable teevee</old man voice>...

You know, as much as I talk about Neil Diamond, I'm not really a Neil Diamond Fan. I mean, sure, I own three Neil Diamond CDs, but I'm not one of those Neil Diamond fans...
