This is another one of those posts that probably only one of my readers will understand and/or care about, but here goes. In the song "J'en ai marre" by Alizée: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVlrqTw7wjM There's a section of the chorus that goes: J'en ai marre de ces cyniques Et dans les prĂ©s les colchiques J'en ai marre d'en avoir marre Aussi (I'm fed up with these cynics And the flowers in the prairies And I'm fed up with being fed up Too) The song is about Alizée listing off all the million different things she's sick of, and talking about how she's only...

You all need to go vote for the new USPS Star Wars stamp. The reasons are severalfold: First, when the stamps come out, my love for Star Wars will force me to buy sheets and sheets of them. Emperor Palpatine is winning right now, and I don't really want to stick his wrinkly face on all of my correspondence. Second, and more offensive, they have identified him on the voting website as "The Emporer" (see screenshot above). Everyone, please go vote for Han and Chewie just to get this egregious spelling aberration off the Intarnest. ETA: I have just looked...

I can't even describe how weird it was to watch the Rose Bowl Parade on Monday and see hundreds of Star Wars stormtroopers marching in formation. It was like The Empire had taken over Pasadena. It was awesome and it was weird and I thought it was totally cool and I was kind of embarrassed that I thought that. As with all the weird-ass Oklahoma floats that were there for no reason (go have your own parade, Oklahoma, and get out of ours!), there was no connection to the Rose Bowl - it was just a chance for people to...

Why is it that George Lucas will go back into his old movies and fiddle with things that don't need to be fiddled with, needlessly changing the fact that HAN SHOT FIRST, adding silly dinosaurs to the background of scenes, and inserting Stupid McWhinersen where Sebastian Shaw should be, but he won't go back and change the ridiculous stop-actiony way that tauntauns run? I'm pretty sure that the gravity on Hoth is the same on any other planet in the Star Wars movies. I saw Han walk through the snow and I saw Luke fall from the ceiling and both...

But then Katie linked to something that brought it all rushing back to me: 91 Reasons to Hate Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith WHAT? Only 91? On Tuesday, we watched the American Film Institute's special 100 Years... 100 Movie Quotes. The show had clips from various famous actors, writers and directors including Star Wars destroyer director George Lucas, whose chin and neck have recently combined and expanded to make him look like a manatee. I always wondered where he got the idea for some of his characters and have now come to realize that he's not that creative after all - he was just looking in the mirror....
