I have been quite upset by Heath Ledger's death. I'm rather surprised at how much it seems to have affected me. So - because I seem unable to write anything this week that isn't in list-format, either at work or in my personal life - here is a list of the reasons why I am upset about Heath Ledger's death, in descending order of importance. It was a surprise. I don't think anyone saw this coming. Lindsay Lohan? Britney? Pete Doherty¹? Yes, I could see that. But Heath Ledger? Where did that come from? The first I heard about it...

"It was a dark and stormy night." - A Wrinkle in Time, opening line I was saddened to read this weekend of the passing of Madeleine L'Engle, one of my favorite authors. After reading the articles I realize it has been years since I read A Wrinkle in Time, so that is my current bedside reading for this week. For years I've thought that the other books in the Time Quartet - A Wind in the Door, Many Waters and A Swiftly Tilting Planet - were better than the first book in the series, but upon rereading, this one is...

The holiday season was also significantly marked by the passing of President Gerald Ford, who is probably more of an icon around the srahfam household than... most households. Srahdad was scheduled to have the Christmas week off, but unfortunately those plans changed when Our President passed away on the 26th. It's nice that President Ford had one last Christmas with his family... and that he didn't have to see Michigan lose (again) yesterday....

Are you a 23 (or so) year old female? Do you remember Jonathan Brandis, star of such great works as Stephen King's It, "SeaQuest DSV" and the 1992 cross-dressing pre-teen comedy Ladybugs, featuring Rodney Dangerfield? Of course you do. Well, he's dead and lost at the bottom of another article about the death of someone I've never heard of. Why don't they ever publicize the deaths of celebrities I actually remember? And where is Mike Vitar these days?...

RIP George Harrison (February 25, 1943 - November 29, 2001) I've always meant to buy a George Harrison solo CD but never got around to it. Maybe I ought to today. Does that sound superficial or commercial? I can't decide. What can you do in these situations, anyway? I can't bring him back - so I might as well celebrate his talent in the way I can......
