My smoke detector decided to start dying around 4am this morning. I lay there, hoping that it would give up the ghost altogether or that the sharp little staccato "BEEP"s would space themselves out long enough for me to fall back asleep and sleep through the night. Unfortunately neither of these scenarios occurred so I eventually dragged myself out of bed and replaced the battery. I could have been lazy and just taken the old battery out, but then I wouldn't have been able to fall back asleep for fear that a fire would spontaneously break out while I was...
