The Monday Mission

1. Are you good at responding to emails and/or Blog comments? Blog comments, yes. Email, not so much. I still owe Johanna an email from over a month ago... 2. Does it make you crazy when people won't reply to your emails even though you know good and well that they are reading them? In some cases. If it's someone I see in person, I'll usually ask them about it. If I've sent a mass email to everyone I know in France and received no reply, I'll just cry and cry and cry. Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a little, but...

The Monday Mission A Day Late

1. When you take a vacation, do you ever suffer from Internet withdrawal? Or maybe the nagging urge to blog or read blogs? Or are you glad to be away? I always suffer Internet withdrawal, and especially blog-withdrawal. I often keep notes, although I find myself frustrated when I return and have to type them all up. 2. Have you ever been "furloughed" (told to take time off work without pay) or laid off? How did that impact your family dynamics? Your finances? If not to you, have you seen it happen to anyone you know? How did they handle...

The Monday Mission

1.What is the difference between spirituality and religion? I'm sure people have differing definitions, but I think that to be a religion, a belief has to involve a god or gods and often deals with the issue of faith in the unknown. I think one can be spiritual by believing deeply in a philosophy, with or without believing in a god. 2. What is the difference between someone listening to what you say and hearing what you say? Listening involves a conscious effort to understand. 3. What's the difference between a Father, and a Daddy? Daddy belongs to me, and...

Monday Mission

1. One thing that really annoys me is when someone at work will just start clipping their fingernails at their desk. In most cases, it is men who do this, which only makes it worse. I can't explain why this grates on my nerves, but when I hear that "click-click-click" of the clippers, I just imagine nasty fingernail fragments flying everywhere. What habit do people have that drives you crazy but doesn't seem to bother anyone else? Um... Promo? Where the heck do you work? Um, I think chewing gum looks gross. And popping fingers is annoying, but that annoys...

The Monday Mission

1. Do you have any plans for "Spring Break" this year? I want to go home. 2. Did you ever have any wild Spring Break experiences? C'mon, tell me the stories! Everso wild. My senior year in high school, we went to Toronto and went shopping and saw Rent and put underwear on our head (although not at Rent...). My freshman year in high school, Jen Dively came to visit and got bitten by my evil demon dog. So, as you can tell, my life is just one party after another. 3. What is your most memorable vacation of your...

The Monday Mission

1. What do you like to eat for breakfast? Do you even eat breakfast? I often have a pain au lait aux pépites de chocolat. Today I had baguette with apricot jam. Thé au lait goes without saying. 2. What was the song that "blew your mind" and is etched in your brain forever? Recall the moment and why it remains in your mind. For heaven's sake, Promo, I don't know if there is one. I am perhaps not as affected by music as you. I still remember the first time I heard Maurice Ravel's "Bolero" and Carmen told us...

Monday Mission

1. What's the most expensive meal you've ever eaten? What was the occasion? Was it worth it? The one I can think of is when our freshman seminar went to France and while the boys had to scrounge up some francs on the last night, Roommate and I blew all of ours on a four-course meal. I don't know if it was really expensive, but it felt like it, in comparison to McDonalds or a street kebab. 2. What do you like to do when nobody is looking? Run to the CDI and hop on the Internet. 3. What's your...

The Monday Mission

1. Do you have a favorite piece of poetry or prose written by someone else? Care to share it? Since seeing (and researching before seeing) Pandaemonium, I've been obsessed with Kubla Khan by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, when I ought to have been obsessed with Wordsworth's Daffodils instead. I blogged it last January. 2. In High School, did you enjoy creative writing? Do you currently do any other writing in addition to your Blog? I loved creative writing from elementary school onwards. Unfortunately, I don't get as many chances to do it these days. I wrote some fold-over stories with Becky...

The Monday Mission

1. What's the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you on a date? I don't know if it's really embarassing per se, but when I went on my first date, I went to see Titanic. My "boyfriend" asked me what I thought of it, and I said I didn't think much of it. It's good to be true to yourself and your feelings and all, but it would have been nice to say something nice about the movie, seeing as he asked me out and paid and all. Wouldn't it? I don't know, I guess that's a question for...

The Monday Mission

1. What do you do to make things better when you feel sad and/or lonely? Cry. Oh wait, I do that all the time. That doesn't sound good, does it? I mean that I cry to relieve stress or tension or get attention. 2. Are you a "touchy-feely" person? That is, do you like to touch people you don't know that well? And on the flipside of that, do you like being touched by someone you aren't close with? I didn't like to be touched in high school. Hugging freaked me out. Then when I got to college and didn't...

The Monday Mission

1. Many children have blankets, or a favorite nubby stuffed animal that they like to keep near them for security. Do you recall what you had for your "security blanket" as a child? When did you finally give it up? What brought that about? I don't remember a blanket or stuffed animal, but I had my "binky", or pacifier (I think the nickname comes from the brand of pacifier we bought). I believe I gave it up when it developed a crack and started biting my tongue. 2. Now that you are a big kid, what do you have to...

The Monday Mission

1. If I could guarantee that the Fashion Police would not lay the smackdown on you, which favorite out-of-style article of clothing do you wish you could wear right now? (and if you have photos of you wearing it, post 'em) I like old-fashioned stuff, so out-of-style clothing sounds good to me. I would wear 1940s rayon dresses and T-strap shoes or saddle shoes and rolled-up jeans. I would be very cute. Either that, or I could go back to elementary school and wear slouch socks and my coat backwards. *snort* 2. In your opinion, who is famous but shouldn't...

The Monday Mission

1. Ever considered just deleting your Blog and not doing it anymore? What prompted that and what stopped you? I've never really thought about stopping altogether. I've thought about taking a break, but I haven't really done it except when I couldn't get to a computer. I like talking about myself so much that I need an outlet, I guess. And I'm looking forward to blogging about France so much, that I don't think it could stop altogether until I was done with that. We shall see. 2. How about a quick review of the last movie you saw? I...

The Monday Mission

1. Who or where do you go to when you need help for web-related problems? I don't usually have a lot of web-related problems. I do what I can and if I can't do something, I don't. Or I find a site where it's been done and peek at the code. I don't really know anyone in person who's at my level. Does that sound immodest? My Computer Science teacher told my parents that when we got to the web page part of the course, he just stood back and let me do my thing because I knew more than...

The Monday Mission

1. What happened this weekend that made you smile? Echhh, grave-hopping trip to Ohio. So not too much. Tuna salad sandwiches and graphic novels, I guess. 2. Did you make someone smile today? If not, will you try? I told my mom to smile and she faked one, but then when I started being silly about the great horror film "It Came From the Carpet", she gave me a real one. 3. Have you any clothes or accessories you love to wear but just totally embarass the person you are being seen with? Alex and my mom hate my hawaiian...

The Monday Mission

1. When was the last time you went out with a true love of yours? What did you two do that made it so special? Last night I went with Alex (and my family) to see Attack of the Clones, to dinner, and home to watch Sir Ian McKellen's Saturday Night Live episode on tape. I am happy just to cuddle and be around him. 2. Which far-away friend would you most like to see again? I was just thinking a few minutes ago about Shannon West, from high school. I'm not sure where she is now. I'd also like...

The Monday Mission

1. Do you have any tattoos? If no, why not and what would you get if you did get one. If you do have one or more, tell us how you came to get it, and why you chose the design you got inked with. I don't have any. If forced (who forces you to get a tattoo?), I would get a tattoo of a potato right under my knee, just like the kid in one of the Sideways Stories from Wayside School books. 2. Has anything ever happened that caused you to believe, or disbelieve, in a Higher Power....

The Monday Mission

1. Ever had a love that you still think of as "the one that got away?" What's the story there? No. I'm glad that the one that got away got away. Heh. 2. What was the last book that you finished reading cover-to-cover? I believe it was David Sedaris' Barrel Fever. Last one I can think of, anyway. 3. Did you ever get up and walk out of a movie? Which one and why? I walked out of The Limey because I thought it was violent and I hated the main character. It helped that I was seeing it for...

The Monday Mission 1. What

The Monday Mission 1. What caused your last case of psuedo-road rage? I don't get that angry, unless I'm in one of those moods. Usually I'm someone to get angry at because I get into the left lane and start thinking about other things and slowing down, or I turn left thinking I have the right of way when I don't and almost kill everyone involved. Boy, I'm an awful driver. 2. Tell me about one of your favorite television shows that was cancelled (past or present). Hmmm. The Non-Sucky X-Files? That was cancelled about three years ago. Is that...

The Monday Mission

1. When was the last time your computer crashed? What happened? Uhhhhh... I haven't had any *knock on wood* disastrous crashes, just freeze-ups that are fixed by restarting. 2. Recommend a movie (new or old) for us to watch. Hmmmmm, Sliding Doors Sliding Doors Sliding Doors. Also The Great Muppet Caper and Pirates of Penzance spring to mind. 3. When was the last time someone told you that you were attractive (and you actually believed them)? My Patito told me so last night. I believe that I'm attractive to him, but I'm constantly surprised if someone else find me attractive....

Monday Mission

1. When was the last time you wanted someone to take you seriously but they just humored you? Boy, I can't think of a specific time. But it does happen a lot, just because I'm so short and young-looking. Most people who actually know me are willing to take me seriously. 2. If you were going to get a vanity license plate for your car, what would it say? (Or if you already have one, what does it say?) Mine would say SRAH, I guess. But the only reason I can think of for getting one is that it would...

PromoGuy's Monday Mission 1. What

PromoGuy's Monday Mission 1. What helps you get started every morning? Tea is good when I have a chance to make it. And when the milk is not chunky, like it was this morning. BEEEEURRRK! Also... sitting in front of the computer until I wake up. 2. What is the most memorable thing anyone has ever made for you? Hmmmm. Anita from the JHAC made me a neat wall-hangy thing and sent it to me out of the blue. That's the first thing that immediately comes to mind. Ah yes, Dively made me an excellent clipboard that I've been using...

PromoGuy's Monday Mission 1. As

PromoGuy's Monday Mission 1. As a child, did you ever wish you had a different name, maybe a name you wish your parents had chosen? To what would change it if you could? I don't know that I've ever been fully satisfied with my name. I always wanted to come up with something, but I never liked any other girls' names, either. 2. What skill have you been wanting to learn but have just kept putting off? I don't know how to use PhotoShop. 3. Are there there any regional foods you love but just can't get where you are...

PromoGuy's Monday Mission

1. I love to order a Wendy's "Frosty" and then dip my French Fries into it before I eat them. Do you have any eating habits others might think are odd? I have gone through various stages where sweet & sour sauce, bbq sauce, mayonnaise and now dijon mustard were my fry-toppings of choice. Why don't we ask Alex this question? Everything he eats is odd. 2. What was the worst date you ever went on? Haven't had too many. Um, I don't know. I saw Titanic with Josh. The date wasn't that bad, but it was Titanic... Dates with...

Promoguy's Monday Mission

Promoguy's Monday Mission 1. What part of your body would you most like to change? Explain. I'm pretty happy with my body at the moment. Maybe my knees and ankles would be less bony or I would have thicker/wavy hair. 2. What are the Blogs you absolutely must visit each time you log on, no matter what? Cleo, Krista, Katie, and Bob 3. What part of your (current or most recent) significant other's body would you most like to change? Oh dear me, I can't *HAIRCUT* think of a *HAIRCUT* single thing that *HAIRCUT* I would *HAIRCUT* change. 4. At...

Promoguy's Monday Mission: 1. What

Promoguy's Monday Mission: 1. What was the most romantic moment you remember from last year? Um... perhaps the rose-in-the-Pringles-can-incident, except that at the time it was confusing and freaky and sudden, rather than romantic, which was the intention. 2. What is your most recent obsession? Blogging, perhaps. Or french onion soup. 3. One of my favorite things in the world is to watch the sunset/sunrise, although rainbows are a close second. Tell me about your favorite natural occourance? I like to watch a really fierce thunderstorm from a nice big window. I had a good window my freshman year -...

Promoguy's Monday Mission

Promoguy's Monday Mission: 1.What is your favorite hot beverage? Didst thou have to ask? Actually, it's a toss-up. At home, I generally like Earl Grey tea with milk/cream and sugar. When I go out, I usually have chai. 2. When meeting a new person you to whom you are physically attracted, what is the first thing you notice about their body? I'm not really sure. It depends on whether they're standing up or sitting down, because if they're really immensely tall or shorter than me, I might notice that. But otherwise it's probably smile or hair. 3. Has somebody ever...

Promoguy's Monday Mission

Promoguy's Monday Mission 1. What is your favorite TV show/cartoon from your childhood? When I was little, I loved watching old Rocky & Bullwinkle reruns on channel 31 (which has now, tragically, gone PAX). Later, around middle-school and high school, it was Animaniacs. 2. Sometimes you just can't count on other people to support something you feel is important. What was the last thing you had to do for yourself that someone close to you didn't think was important? Uh... I'm sure it's happened, but I can't think of a particular instance. Sometimes people want me to have different priorities...
