Isidore makes the connection

Well, in case you can't tell, Isidore is online today. While sitting in the computer lab, I overheard the properties manager/IT guy on the phone, telling someone he was leaving town tonight. I'm sure I only whimpered in my mind, but he may have picked up on it because he came over and talked to me about my network connection. For some reason, he seems to have warmed to me, because he typed in all of the IP information that was missing and now I can connect from anywhere that's close enough to one of the wireless points around campus....

And I don't have class for another two hours. My students are here in the library with me, but they're being very studious and working, so I don't want to bother them and I wouldn't have anything to say to them even if I did, other than. I may have to start reading the dictionary or - even worse - surfing Encarta and digging up super-neato facts to share with you. Mwah ha! Señor Tails says that something exploded and that's why we don't have Internet. This was after I said "What happened - did something explode?" He seemed to think this was a good explanation and said that whatever it was that exploded is out being fixed and he doesn't know when it will be back. How can you not know? Do they not even give you an estimated time when they can have it fixed? In the week that the Internet's been dead, I've written 13 pages of nonsense in Word. What a burden it will be to read it all when I get it up. What a ridiculous amount of time it is taking to get it back up. Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? Did the server explode and we're building a new one by hand? From Legos and chewing gum? If I had a disk, I would take my blog-posts to the cybercafé. Unfortunately, I am not clever like that....

I would just like to point out that ça fait une semaine aujourd'hui qu'on est sans Internet. Ahem. Some of us need the Internet to do our job and are quickly running out of materials. Ahem. This is not exactly a third world country here; it seems to me we should be able to get back online faster than this....

The Intranet seems to be working fine, but we have no connection to the Internet. Oh dear oh dear oh dear. Here I am surfing Krista, Bob, and Roommate's pages - which, of course, they can't update 'cause there ain't no Internet access. Poopety poo poo. Details of my dinner to come later....
