Just another day at the cybercafé

Dennis/Christophe just gave me roses as a going-away gift and kissed me on the top of the head. This is a strange place....

All hail Sarah

Once again, I am the chouchou of the cybercafé. And all it took to buy their affections was a dozen homemade American-style chocolate chip cookies. Yay me....

Chemicals all rushing through my bloodstream

Spring is in Vichy. Spring is in Vichy. It's spring spring spring spring spring. In other news, I don't love the David Gray song Babylon in the winter, but it has a very springtime feel to it, especially played at full volume. It feels like spring spring spring spring spring. Dennis is serving me tea and kowtowing and calling me "madame" and I am smiling at him instead of rolling my eyes because it's spring spring spring spring spring....

'I didn't know you were called Dennis'

Mr Unnamed Cybercafé Employee kept bowing to me tonight and calling me "your highness". I really don't know what to do with him, so I smile and continue clicking away as he enters and exits the room genuflecting and trying to make me laugh or at least pay attention to him. It bothers me that I don't know his name, but I don't want to ask him because I think he would take it as a sign of interest and thus increased intimacy, when all I really want to do is surf the net, drink tea, pay, and leave. So...

There are only two customers tonight, so the cybercafé employees are forcing me to sing along with the music. Brassens, I refuse. Cake, I will add my little "Perhaps perhaps perhaps" just to please them. Woo woo! Thursday night karaoke party at the cybercafé!...

Srah ventures into the cybercafé

There is no heat in this room. Fingers cold. At least it isn't the Den of Adolescents, though. The latest barrage of posts is mixed in with already-published ones. They begin with these two in December, and the rest of them start here....

Today in cyberland

The Activity of the Day at the cybercafé is to scream like a girl, and to tell each other to shut up and watch their language because there is a lady present and this fine young woman is trying to concentrate on the Internet....

Step right up!

I've decided to start charging money for people to sit and watch me type, as I am apparently some sort of circus freak. The sad thing is, I'm not really complaining because I like attention....

Monsoon season in Vichy

I got the afternoon off due to Veronique's absence, so I've popped into the cybercafé. Almost wrote "pooped into the cybercafé", which would be almost as funny as when one of my students said that the most popular Thanksgiving dessert was pooping pie. I'm feeling better than I was this morning and am having some unpriced milky tea which will probably turn out to be almost as expensive as this overpriced Internet access. Soon I will be off to Renata's to celebrate Thanksgiving à la française with all of the Vichy assistants, if I can convince myself to go back...

Non, merci

I have been offered at least five cups of coffee/tea by at least three people since 3:30, when I sat down at this computer. I still don't know if they're trying to hit on me or make up for me having to wait. NO TEA PLEASE!...

Attack of the nerds

I knew I would not make it through the week without Internet access and that the reserve-in-advance free access at the library would not cut it because they have a cracked-out system that resets itself to the home page if you don't wiggle the mouse every few minutes, so that you can be typing a blog-post about Persuasion, for example, when all of a sudden you find yourself at the library home page. Needless to say, that will not do. (And yet I said it, even thought it was needless!) So I was forced to go to Echapp, also known...
