Happy National Cashew Day! I don't think I've ever cooked or baked with cashews, but if nutshealth.com¹ is to be believed (and why wouldn't you trust nutshealth.com, anyway), they are less expensive than some other types of nuts. Last year for Christmas I made spiced pecans, which I'm sure you could also do with cashews, if you so desired. This year I'm going to try to marry the spices from that recipe with the possibly-healthier (or at least more-potentially-salmonellaey) binding agent from this one, using egg white instead of oil. But it will still be with pecans (or maybe almonds!)...

This was one of the most productive Sundays I've had in a long time. It helped that I had multitasked by folding laundry and tidying the living room during the football game on Saturday, so that meant I could spend Sunday doing whatever I wanted. I decided that I wanted to make meatloaf, and ended up making meatloaf, mashed potatoes and muffins. If someone would come and do the dishes for me, that would be great. What are we having for dinner tonight?

Thought you might know, because I sure don't. Last night I made chili. It was a very odd kind of chili. You know how some things are accumulatively spicy, so they get hotter and hotter as you eat them? My chili did that, then it went downhill. I think the spiciness was in some way related to the heat of the food. Is this scientifically possible? I don't care. I think I'm just typing in order to put off going outside, because I'm afraid it's raining again. P√Ętes aux champignons it will be tonight, then. Thank you for your cooperation....

Hurrah for Baldwin chefs!

The wok is my new best friend. I made a yummy stir-fry today. Ingredients: tofu, chickpeas, pineapple, green pepper, onion, peas, french fries Sauces: oil, stir-fry, soy, teriyaki Spices: curry powder, lemon-pepper, garlic powder Mmmmmmmmmmmm.
