I went to see The Devil Wears Prada today with some friends here in Srahtown. We met in the lobby, then someone led us into the theater, which was already dark. The room was pretty packed, but we managed to split the group up into only two adjacent rows. The previews began, including a trailer for John Tucker Must Die, an incredibly stupid looking film. It was only while this rather embarassingly explicit trailer was playing that I started to notice that the theater was full of pre-teens, most of them boys. A consommer avec moderation
Children are fine in moderation. But a multitude of children, running all over, chattering, (accidentally?) kicking me, using talkie-walkies in a no-cell-phone area, watching my favorite movie and blocking my view of the screen, and stinking up my train compartment with tuna fish sandwiches when I am stressed about the continuation of my voyage simply will not do. I am going to eat them, I've decided. The children, that is. Not the stinky sandwiches....

Yesterday, between all of the adorable little caniches I saw in the street that begged to be petted and cuddled and my fellow moviegoers at the Harry Potter screening, I decided that we have it all wrong.
