We elves try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns and syrup

Happy National Candy Day! What a great excuse to eat candy! As if I needed an excuse! I bring you, in celebration of this joyous holiday, some candy-related haiku: On the decision-making process for choosing Halloween candy My halloween treats: Junior Mints and Take 5 bars Kids, try something new! A Take 5 bar has Too many textures with both Peanuts and pretzels. Fun-sized Take 5 bars Are better than big Take 5s They're less peanutty. Junior Mints? You know Of my love for these nuggets Of soft gooeyness. On trying a new seasonal treat Caramel apple Flavored Hershey Kisses:...

No chocolate covered candy hearts to give away

Recently my friends discussed the topic of Assortment Twins and Assortment Compatibility. For example, my friend Jen and I both like the cream soda and butterscotch Dum Dum pops best, so we're Assortment Twins, whereas my friend Jason only likes the fruit flavored Dum Dums, so we're almost Assortment Compatible, except we have to find someone to eat the nasty root beer ones. So Jen and I can compliment each other on each other's great taste, but Jason and I can actually share an assortment. If anyone would like to test their Assortment Twinning/Compatibility with me, here are some of...

A slight tetch of insulin-resistance denial

You know what I don't particularly like? Butterfingers. You know what else I don't particularly like? Peanut butter. You know what is totally awesomely awesome? Butterfingers "creme" eggs, made of a hollow chocolate egg filled with a mixture of peanut butter and little bitsy bits of Butterfingers. Quick! Go out and buy them if there are any left! They are probably on sale! Go now! Quickly! Someone will take your Butterfingers creme eggs and then you won't get any and then you'll be sorry but don't come crying to me because I told you to hurry, foo'! Of course, this...

Hooray for snack-sized candies!

I bought Halloween candy just in case I had trick-or-treaters, but was pretty sure I wouldn't, since I don't have a porch light and there was nothing to indicate that ascending three flights of stairs would be in any way fruitful. Or candyful. As a result, I have candy galore leftover. I've brought some to work but it isn't disappearing nearly fast enough - especially since several of my coworkers have mentioned that they didn't have any trick-or-treaters either. I suspect there are a lot of adults with candy on their hands this November 1. *licks fingers* Well, what with...

This is either a poem or a collection of thoughts.

Junior Mints are a little firm and standoffish on the outside, but the inside is soft and comforting. They are like a hug, in candy form. I like Junior Mints....

Fat free since 1949! Because before that, they were pure lard!

I went for years without a Junior Mint and never missed them. Then Katie started talking about them* this summer and I went out and tried them again. Now they're my comfort food and I now crave them whenever I'm having a bad day or I'm stressed or torn or confused or feel like crying. I feel just fine today. My worries of the weekend are mostly behind me and my stress of the week is ahead of me. And yet I had to have Junior Mints. I think this may be a sign of addiction. I took a break...
