Kal Penn and some guy I've never heard of are travelling around Ohio universities this week, trying to convince young people to vote for Barack Obama. When I got the notification that he was coming to The University I Work At, my initial reaction was (direct quote from my Facebook profile): KAL PENN! KAL PENN IS COMING HERE! I think he's coming to meet me and marry me and this whole Obama thing is just a cover. KAL PENN! Then once I calmed down and thought about it, I was conflicted because I hate it when celebrities get political. I...

Blake is doomed. He is doomed and he is going to meet his doom in grubby pants and a tuxedo t-shirt. Blake Blake Blake. However, I'm almost prepared to forgive him this horrifying fashion blunder because of the Hard Day's Night-inspired video for their weekly stupid American Idol Ford commercial, wherein Blake wears a vest. Almost. Vests impress me a lot, but not quite enough to make up for a tuxedo t-shirt. (Oh look! Another video!)...

This season of American Idol has been very disappointing. I probably say this every year, but this year it seems like I hate more people than I like. With any luck, Whiny Chris and Alien Phil will leave this week and we will be left with only talented people. Out of the other four (Blake, Lakisha, Jordin and Melinda) I don't really care who wins, because Blake is so much better than everyone else that he has already transcended American Idol and doesn't really need to win. It's not that he's a better singer than the other three (he's usually...

My answer to The Great Sanjaya Mystery (namely, "Why is he still on American Idol?") lies with Lisa Simpson. Lisa's favorite periodical is Non-Threatening Boys Magazine. And what could be less threatening to a naive, nervous prepubescent girl than a boy who will not show any interest in you at all? He is like a stepping stone for little girls: a boy who sort of looks like a girl and will never do anything gross like kiss them, but is sort of nice to look at. And he might let you braid his hair. I think this affinity for Non-Threatening...

Every night when I get into bed, I think about arms reaching out to grab my legs. This never happened when I had the same bed at my parents' house. My sister just bought the first season of Due South on DVD and we've been working our way through it. It's widely accepted, I think, that Benton Fraser is The Perfect Man, but in episode 4, I realized that he was The Perfect Man for me (well, except for being fictional and all). In the episode, Fraser - who is handsome, clean, polite and respectful of rules - is inexplicably riding a horse through empty streets in Chicago. He stops his horse and his companion looks up to see that Fraser stopped because the traffic light had turned red. That...

If you had the power to turn any fictional character into a real person, who would it be and what would you do with them (talk, kill them, etc.)? Gilbert Blythe! At last you and I can be together! I haven't really minded it... except for last Valentine's Day when I didn't have boyfriend, friends, or family and was wandering around Nîmes alone. But anyway. I didn't mind not having a boyfriend because I did fun things with all of my friends and sent them all valentines. And for some reason, I don't hang around people with boy-/girlfriends so it's not like I was left out...

C is for cookie

Alex, in some very strange mood, has declared all music other than Sting and Cookie Monster illegal. If you want to record music and you are not Sting, you will have to dress in a Cookie Monster costume and mention Sesame Street issues at least once in your song, even if it's not relevant....

Keep the change, ya filthy animal

According to Celeb Match, I am 100% compatible with the skank-nasty Macaulay Culkin. Apparently compatibility is based on the fact that we were born on the exact same day. Thrilling. My runners-up are Tarso Marques (who?), Noah Bastian (who?), Chris Klein, and Randy Moss (who? sounds like a football player). I think I'll go shopping for someone better. Kevin Kline - 15% :( Mike Myers - 98% Jean Reno - 60% Alan Rickman - 94% Kevin Spacey - 74% Not bad. Too bad JH isn't on the list... [via Skittles?]...

El Patito dressed as a pollito! This makes me laugh and laugh and roll around on the floor. Sorry, Boyfriend....

I went to Cafe Felix

I went to Cafe Felix with Becky Reik, Harini, and Alex. Patito el Pavito was quiet and normal, which is rather out of character. I suppose I would be, too, meeting up with people who hadn't seen much of each other since high school. You're still very charming....

I went to the craft store

I went to the craft store with my mom and Alex today and Alex kept walking up and down the aisles, sticking his face in the silk flowers. I believe I have The Strangest Boyfriend On Earth....

I watched Apt Pupil

I watched Apt Pupil today with Alex, who is madly and passionately in love with Sir Ian McKellen. I think I may have to fall in love with him myself. This is particularly frightening considering that, in the movie, he plays a former Nazi concentration camp officer who enjoys murdering homeless street hustlers and putting cats in the oven. Of course, this is from the girl who finds Norman Bates attractive. I think I have serious issues and that someone should probably look into Boyfriend's background and make sure he's not a psycho killer....

Sometimes I wish you could peek in someone's ear

Sometimes I wish you could peek in someone's ear while they're sleeping and see what they're dreaming about. Yesterday Alex and I were taking a nap and at one point I was awake while he was asleep. He reached over (in his sleep, mind you) and patted me on the head approvingly and said something unintelligible. I wonder what was going on in there....

All the advantages aside

All the "advantages" aside, I did miss you while you were gone, Alex. So don't feel unappreciated....

Good thing about Boyfriend being in Ohio

Good thing about Boyfriend being in Ohio: free choice of footwear with no worries about being taller than him. Yay boots. Advantage #2: Time alone to be an individual person. Yahboosucks to Alisha. Not to say that it's all fun and games being boyfriendless, but you know what the Monty Python boys say... "'Always look on the bright side of life'?" "No, 'Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.'" 2 hits. I think one of them was me in the Umbrella Office. Sigh sigh lament......

I wonder how much time

I wonder how much time I waste every day. Not that it's really that wasted - I like to relax. I don't like to be stressed. Durned American lifestyle. Yesterday, Alisha as much as told me I don't exist as an individual - I am just Alex's Girlfriend. Well gee, that was nice. Rather painful and frustrating, actually. I love Alex... but I love me, too. I think my English Language test went well. Tests are better than papers....
