I can't remember when the last time was that I owned proper winter boots. My last pair of boots were lace-up style and came up to my ankle, more like hiking boots than waterproof, snowproof ones. And I lost those somehow (or threw them away?) before I moved down to Ohio. Boots are one of those things that I don't usually think of until I need them, and then when I need them the in-store selection is scant and/or strange. Fortunately this year I planned ahead and was able to find sensible, plain-looking, faux-fur-lined black boots. I can even tuck...
