Hello, The Internet. If you care to be all up in my personal business like that, I will tell you that apete and I broke up today. We couldn't make the long-distance thing work, it's mutual but it still hurts and that is all I care to share with The Internet. I hate telling people about breakups and I really hate being all Web 2.0 about it, but I feel like I have to tell people somehow. Happy birthday to my lovely boyfriend! You keep on birthdaying it up, yo! [In the interest of full disclosure, I will admit that I had been all nerdily excited about blogging about apete's 24 birthday today and originally posted this as such. Then I realized I wasn't sure about my math so I Googled the answer and discovered I was wrong. I am glad apete is 25 and not 24 because that would be illegal and gross. Apparently it's not cool to tell your dreams to the Internet. To that I say "Suck it, Internet, you're going to read my dreams or else skip on to the next entry! Boo-yeah!" "Boo-yeah" has, unfortunately, become my catchphrase of the weekend. I dreamt that I went to a fanciful land like Narnia. There were about eight of us in the group, including apete and his quadruplet brother and sisters and Rose (and possibly Bernard too) from Lost. We were all lead by some bearded guy who was sort of like Zeke from Lost. We went to this fanciful land...

The other night, apete and I got to talking about the weird things that make srahfamily srahfamily. These include things like memorizing musicals, eating blueberry pie and dancing in the kitchen. Playing on our last name, he referred to the state of being a member of my family as "McNautism." I thought this was pretty amusing and I believe I laughed my head off for a while and ran and told my parents. Then we got to talking about other things and the origin of my last name. "Do you know what the M'Naghten defense is, in the legal system?"...

Apete, SarahM and I went to a chocolate tasting at Zingerman's earlier this week. I never got around to blogging anything about the balsamic vinegar or sea salt tastings we went to earlier this month, so I decided I had to make an effort to get this chocolate thing blogged! What this chocolate tasting did was confirm my worst suspicions: I am a chocolate philistine. After a lengthy explanation of the chocolate making processes and everywhere where the cheapo chocolates cut corners, we were given little cups with samples of different chocolates. We tasted them, then were asked to describe...

Dear Internet, I would like your assistance in a little argument that apete and I are having: If you use one of these machines to make something consisting of pie filling between two slices of bread, is the resulting confection a sandwich or a pie? Here it is Thursday and I'm finally getting around to blogging about this weekend. I think I have some kind of block - I keep sitting down in front of the computer and thinking I should write, but not really wanting to. Sigh. Anyway, I went off to a wedding in Chicago this weekend with Apete. As I've put off the blogging this time, it will have to be a series of sentence fragments strung together because I really can't bring myself to write something cohesive. What the hell is wrong with me? Saturday Ate waffles. Got in the car....

Apete and I went to the Common Grill last night, filled up on appetizers and split the Chilean Sea Bass as our entrée. As the waiter set the plate on the table, he informed us that we were the lucky eaters of the last Chilean Sea Bass. That the Common Grill would be serving. EVAR. Apparently the sea bass have been put on the endangered species list and their suppliers are just selling off the stock that they have left.
