A couple of weeks ago I commented on an annoying-slash-hilaaaarious conversational habit of mine. I picked up on another one that my sister and I do while we were grocery shopping today: 1: Where is the [X]? (Or brings up [X] in some other context) 2: You're an [X]! 1: I'll [X] you! Such as: Alfie: Where are the cheese and crackers? me: You're cheese and crackers! Alfie: I'll cheese and crackers you! Then when we went to drive home, Alfie unlocked the car and let me in. I reached over and grabbed the keys off her lap and joked,...

We had our yearly photo session this weekend to take a picture for the family Christmas card, just as we've done for the last 28 years. Wow, that's a lot of years when you write it down! As usual, Alfie and I insisted on taking some joke pictures and messed up many others by having no idea what we were doing. Hansel and Zoolander we are not. As usual, we fervently wished that our parents would choose the joke/outtake photos over the serious pictures. And as usual, the parents prefer the serious ones. So we'll be sending out this one:...

If my sister loved me like she ought to, this is how our conversations would go: Me: Do you like sibling? Alfie: I don't know, I've never sibbled. Ha ha ha ha ha! Instead they go like this: Me: Do you like sibling? Alfie: ... no....

All you musicals-lovers looking for another outlet for your talents might want to head over to my sister's blog, where she is hosting her Musicals Quiz VII. X-Phile #2: (shocked) But William! You could get drunk! X-Phile #1: You could get addicted. William: I downloaded this little baby off the Net. I will know exactly how many spirits I may imbibe without affecting my judgment or my behavior. me: That's totally us. That would have been us in high school. Alfie: Except we didn't go to any parties in high school. We...

Good news! I do not have a concussion... I think. This afternoon I went a-returnin' things that I bought before my trip, which I later decided I didn't need. When I got to the mall in Cincinnati, I opened my truck to get out the shoebox, reached in, and the FIERCE STRONG WINDS blew the trunk lid down on my head. Tears came to my eyes and I sort of stumbled through the parking lot in a haze, wondering if I had a concussion. I returned my shoes, wandered in and out of stores, checked my pupils in the restroom...

I dreamt last night that my sister and I were in the top 12 on American Idol. They had flown the top 12 to the Globe Theatre in London for a Very Special Top 12 Episode or something. We were all sitting around in the audience seats (which doesn't make any sense because the Globe doesn't have theatre seating) and waiting for things to get started. Sway and Gedeon were there too, but I don't remember seeing Taylor anywhere. We had to organize ourselves into pairs or groups of three (I don't think this was for singing purposes, as the...

I was watching TV with my grandma and the rest of my family (I don't remember why, but it was significant that my grandma was there) and flipping uncontrollably through channels. Something about Jamaicans came up - a TV show or a reference or something. Then I was at Meijer with my sister and my high school nemesis and her mom. We were buying peas, but I was carrying everything in my arms for some reason and as we neared the checkout, I started dropping everything. I dropped two cans of peas and they broke, so I had to go...

It's Homecoming Weekend in Albion. Construction seemed light on I-94 and I got off at Jackson (and somehow ended up back on after Jackson, but that's due to my fantastic navigational skills) so I made the one-hour drive in under two hours. It was okay, because sitting still on the freeway gave me a chance to change CDs so that I could sing at the top of my lungs along with both Fiddler on the Roof and The Neil. I'm staying with the sister and using her shower products because it's easier than trucking my own around. Who came up...

Whose idea was it to have that stupid mouse character in Cinderella's catchphrase be "Strike 'er easy"? What does that mean? Who says that, apart from cartoon mice? And why won't it get out of my head? Cartoons say weird things anyway. For a good year after seeing Lady and the Tramp, my sister would exclaim, "You mongrel!" whenever she got upset at someone. Which, if you know my sister, was often. Of course, this is not to suggest that my sister is a cartoon. Although......

What a dreamful week I've been having! I'm sure you don't care, but I like to record them and perhaps in reading them, you will realize exactly how bizarre things are in my head. First I was on a tour bus in England and Neil Dudgeon, John Hannah and Joanna Roth were there as well. Neil was right behind me, but the other two were way at the back of the bus. The tour guide announced that we weren't going to be able to watch the video she'd planned to show in the bus because she'd left it at the...

Kind of an unusual arrangement. They've invited me to get dressed up as well. I can pretend I'm back in high school again. Not that anyone won't believe it... This will be quite a week! I've decided my sister is sort of like Queen Elizabeth I. Not that it's a bad thing... Queen Elizabeth had a lot of suitors all would have liked to marry her and take over the kingdom. Elizabeth never married, but didn't discourage the suitors from coming and trying. I have the impression that she didn't want to give up her power, but she liked the attention. Becky has a lot of suitors as well, but they don't want to marry her. They are colleges who want her to attend. She keeps putting off the final decision (we tease that we'll...

Mystery solved - the cracked-out villain is Becky herself. BlueMountain has their design-your-own card thing and Becky's on drugs. We went to Olive Garden for dinner and spent almost the whole time playing "Connect Yourself to Celebrities" and various other variations on "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon". I will share some later.
