Language Week's Comin'

Hide your heart, girl.

Yes, soon it will be time for the fifth installment of everyone's favorite srah blah blah-hosted floating-all-around-the-summertime meme, Language Week.

The rules of Language Week are as follows:

 1. You do not talk about Language Week.
 2. You do not talk about Language Week.
 3. There are no rules.
 4. Well, okay, there are a couple of rules but they're not very strict.
 5. Language Week 2007 is June 25-29. I am announcing it early so that you can study up and so that you can spread the word to the Entire Intarnest!
 6. Blog in a language that you don't usually blog in. You don't have to blog a lot if you don't want to - a few sentences will do, as long as you continue, once a day, through the week (or at least Monday to Friday). You can blog in one foreign language for five days, you can blog in five different languages or you can find some medium between the two. Or what the hell... if you only want to blog in Swedish on Tuesday, go for it.
 7. It would be nice, but not necessary, to include some kind of translation into your usual language. I usually do mine in other language tags. You might choose to write it all out and translate at the end. You could hide it in the post's extension. Whatever. Be free! Be wild!
 8. You can link back to this post if you want. Or not. If you don't want. Here is this year's icon!
 9. If you're participating, please leave a comment or a trackback and let me know. This way you can all read each other's and be inspired when you can't think of anything to say and you can make new blogging friends and we'll all live happily ever after.

I shall be making many feeble attempts to blog in Arabic. It will be very very thrilling discourse, too: all about the weather and the fact that I like tea. If I can remember how to say "like."

Nice! I've been thinking about branching out to writing poetry in French. Or Arabic. Mostly French.

I will try to blog! I'll try to do it in my native Polish, my non-native French, German and itsy bitsy Japanese. What a great idea, btw!

Ok, I want to try to blog in Italian. How do you get the little button?

gravatar srah - June 24, 2007 - 8:59 PM -

You can copy it (right-click and save) and upload it to your Blogger space (I think you can do that on Blogger now, can't you?).

Thanks for participating!

Since I was so lame and didn't even blog at all during last year's language week (even though I signed up), I'll make an effort to really blog this year. Definitely will be blogging in German (just did). Perhaps French, Spanish or Italian...depending on my mood. And I'll see whether I could throw in Dutch or some other languages along the way. Of course, all this depends on how often I'm blogging this week. ;-)

I saw this on the Peachiest of pages. How neat. I'm going to try my hand at Italian as I'm trying in earnest to learn the language.

Check out me blogging in Afrikaans! This is an awesome idea!

I haven´t been online much, so I just got your comment now! In Spain now on vacation, trying to learn a bit of Spanish.
But I will try to finish off the week with some Language Week fun!
